Sermon: 2257 How to Keep the Wonder in Your Worship
Pray Over This
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”
Ponder This
One couple was before a marriage counselor, who asked the man, “What do you think is wrong with your marriage?” The man responded, “She says I don’t love her anymore.” Have you gotten that way about your love for the Lord? There is a way to keep the wonder in your worship, just like there is a way to stay in love even when years have passed. There is a way to keep the fire in your faith, not to simply come and sit.
How can you keep the wonder in your worship? You need to recognize the nature of God. Do you take God seriously? Are you serious about your worship? Jesus would rather have you cold than lukewarm. He’d rather have you out-and-out against Him than lukewarm. Why? At least a person who’s against Christ has enough respect to be against Him. But a lukewarm person says, “I believe. I’m just not excited about it. Lord, you don’t move me.” We come to church sometimes and yawn in the face of God. God asks, “Where is my honor?” That’s the reason Jesus taught us to pray, “Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.”

Practice This
Thank God for who He is. Ask Him to help you see Him rightly so that you wonder and marvel over Him.
