Listen as this barbershop quartet sings ‘Georgia On My Mind.’ What could be more soothing to the ear than four, perfectly blended voices?
This incredibly talented quartet from the ’90s went by Genuine Blend. The group included Andrew Clements, Mark Garlock, Kirk Wood, and Dan Doctor. All of the members came from different areas in Michigan. The video was taken in 1995 at the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Convention in Miami.
‘Georgia On My Mind’ was originally recorded by Hoagy Carmichael in 1930. Stuart Gorell wrote the lyrics while Hoagy wrote the music.
Is it about the state or a woman? Your guess is as good as mine! The lyrics are apparently vague enough to be about either.
Endless artists have covered the song since its release. The song is normally associated with Ray Charles, a multi-genre artist that gained popularity in the 1950s. The connection goes the other way too! Ray Charles is known for ‘Georgia On My Mind’ even though it was released almost 20 years before his career began.
Other popular renditions come from Louis Armstrong, Willie Nelson, and Billie Holiday. It’s obviously a classic! The most recent, mainstream cover was recorded by music duo and sisters, Chloe x Halle for the 2021 Masters (golf) Tournament.
Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through, the whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind, Georgia on my mind
This classic song can only get better when a barbershop quartet sings it! Genuine Blend’s performance will have you both calmed AND amazed.
During a recent shoot for Magnolia Table, Chip and Jo battle it out in the kitchen! Jo gets a little “help” from her beloved and comical husband Chip and what happens next will leave you in stitches. In the words of Jo, “Oh Chip!”
In the episode, Jo prepares an Italian meal that her family just loves when Chip arrives to see how Jo is doing. But we all know that whenever Chip shows up, Jo needs to be on her toes because you never know what Chip may do.
He might eat a dead bug, attempt to jump through a wall of sheetrock or jump into a lake fully clothed. But the one thing Chip almost always does is turn seemingly ordinary and mundane tasks into a competition. And making an Italian feast is no different.
Chip challenges his wife to see who can crack six eggs the fastest. Of course, it needs to be noted, the competition isn’t about who does it efficiently but the fastest.
Jo agrees and as Chip counts them off, everyone assumes Jo will win because it takes a little finesse to crack an egg without shells landing into the mix. Surprisingly, Chip wins! He can crack an egg with one hand! When the competition seemingly over, the camera hovers over the top of Chip’s bowl and there are eggs spilled over on the side of the counter and cutting bowl. What’s even more comical is the fact, Chip has shells splattered inside the bowl, too!
Even though the competition is over, Chip hasn’t left the building just yet. He proceeds to “wash” his hands on an eight-ounce block of cream cheese he mistakes for soap when Jo tells him she needed that for the recipe.
Undeterred by his blunders, Chip decides drinking the eggs he just cracked would be a great idea. But as he takes a rather large mouthful, he realizes it might have been a bad idea as he visibly struggles to swallow the slimy mixture.
Of course, all Jo can do is what we are doing as we watch the video: Laugh, sigh, roll our eyes, and say, “Oh Chip!” We’re laughing with you, Jo! We certainly are!
“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22
Jazz is a style of music that takes years of practice to perfect. It’s not just learning how to play an instrument or sing in the right octave, it involves creating a feeling out of every note.
But one little girl is already a prodigy and not just because she can play Jazz but because she can play the trumpet really well. This young trumpet player joins a Jazz band on stage and blows the crowd away.
At first, the video seems to begin in between music sessions as this petite little girl with crow-black hair and a cute grey and white striped shirt, holding a trumpet is introduced on stage. Nothing about her seems to be out of the ordinary and she checks out the crew behind her.
Instruments are being switched out. Crew members are testing their equipment. Some are grabbing a glass of water. Then the piano player calls her attention to snap a quick photo where she smiles and then turns her attention back to the crew setting up, it’s almost as if she’s eagerly anticipating the moment when the music will start.
But then it’s time for this little prodigy to shine. The saxophone counts her in and on the count of four, she graces the Jazz stage with her music. Her little cheeks puff as she skips up and down music notes and there’s a sparkle in her eye. It’s obvious that not only does she have a gift, but she also loves playing and the crowd applauds her efforts.
As the music continues to fill the air, the little trumpet player takes turns with the saxophone player as each adds their talent to the jazz stage. God certainly knows how to give each of us good gifts like writing, crafting, or creating music and this little girl is embracing her gift for all it’s worth.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:”

This guilty dog hides blueberries in his mouth and gives his owner the biggest puppy eyes! Some dogs will run for the hills with snatched food with no remorse, but this guy can’t help but feel horrible. It’s like he’s made the worst decision of his life!
This short, 13-second video has over 3 million views. I know I’ve watched it over and over again myself. That dog is just too cute! I definitely tried to count how many blueberries he had hidden in there.
The video begins with the owner putting her hand out in front of her, under the dog’s mouth. She says, “What do you have in your mouth?” while she holds back a laugh.
She then tells the dog to spit it out. He seems to give her a goofy smile, but one blueberry falls out!
The owner repeats herself as the puppy eyes stay strong. All of a sudden, the dog opens his mouth and pushes a bunch of blueberries out with his tongue. They fall to the floor and roll away, but he keeps his eyes on his mom.
His mom couldn’t help but laugh at her little thief. I think he should be let off with a warning. Clearly, he felt awful about the whole thing!
A popular comment by user Gordon Davis says, “The reason why no dog ever graduated from spy school - they look too guilty when up to shenanigans.” This is too true!
I don’t know about you, but I will be sending this video to all my friends!
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:21
Listen to Pete Mroz and Savanna Chestnut sing their hearts out in their ‘Have a Little Faith in Me’ duet; it might be the best battle round yet on this season of The Voice.
If you don’t follow the show, singers who are chosen to compete pick one of the celebrity coaches as their mentor to guide their progress on the show. They can only choose one of the coaches who has also chosen them. Once on a team, the singers perform songs on their own and with another contestant in a ‘battle round.’
Both Pete and Savanna are on Blake Shelton’s team. Pete, from Nashville, originally auditioned with ‘Can’t Find My Way Home’ by Blind Faith and had Blake and John Legend turn their chairs around for him.
It turns out, Pete used to be in a band with Blake more than 25 years ago in Nashville, but Blake didn’t recognize him after turning around! Pete said, “You stole my bass player.” Blake came back with, “I gave your bass player a job!” Of course a connection like this would make it onto the show!
Savanna, from Kansas, auditioned with ‘Hold Me Now’ by the Thompson Twins. Only Blake turned his chair around, so she ended up on his team.
‘Have a Little Faith in Me’ was released in 1987 by John Hiatt. The song was used on the soundtracks of multiple films throughout the 90’s, 2000’s, and most recently, 2017.
Even though the judges liked both of their performances, they definitely liked Pete’s more. They wanted to see Savanna have a little more fun on stage. It also seemed like the song was more suited for Pete’s voice too.
Pete starts the song with his solo part and Savanna follows with her solo. When they harmonize together, the song gets more intense. Their voices blend so well together!
Their performance is overall worth the watch, and you’ll be happy that you listened. Amazing job to both of them!
Watch this incredible tween singer’s heartfelt ‘Fix You’ audition earn the golden buzzer on Sweden’s Got Talent. Elwin Heikkinen’s voice will melt your heart!
Even though Elwin initially seems incredibly nervous and reserved, all of his emotions begin to show when he starts singing. He casually leans on a stool and sings along to ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay.
Coldplay released the song more than 15 years ago. It made the charts in both the UK and the US and still sends a powerful message to this day. Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, wrote the song about comforting his then girlfriend, Gwyneth Paltrow, through the grief of losing her father a few weeks before they met.
He begins with so much raw emotion all in his voice, while his face is probably stuck straight from his nerves! He shows off his voice in a very vulnerable way and immediately captures the audience’s attention.
As the song builds, so does his voice. One of the judges is shown throwing her hands up in the air rocking out to his performance.
The song fades back down, and you see Elwin’s father backstage crying. Of course he’s proud of his son! We ALL are!
The judges’ comments are in Swedish, I know. But stick with the video through to the end. Clearly they loved his performance and his courage. One of the judges was so touched, he calmly pressed the golden buzzer, automatically sending Elwin through to the live shows!
Elwin’s shock brings him to tears and his dad comes running out on stage to hug him. Such a touching moment that people across the world got to share with Elwin!
Enjoy the unmistakable tenor voice of Andrea Bocelli as he performs ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’
This iconic song was originally a show tune from the musical ‘Carousel.’ Written by world-renowned composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, the song was first released in 1945.
In later years, the song garnered mainstream attention after other artists lent their vocals to the tune. On of the most famous renditions comes from Elvis Presley who released his version of the single in 1967. In face, he even titled his album after the song.
“When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky and the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain.”
For decades, Andrea has been showcasing his incredible vocal skills with songs such as ‘The Prayer’ and ‘Time To Say Goodbye.’ After a 14-year hiatus from releasing an album, Andrea produced ‘Si’ in 2018.
This international success proved that the Italian vocalist is still a powerhouse and that the best may be yet to come.
Today, he’s sharing his updated rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ from his newest album, Believe. The album is described as “is a collection of uplifting songs that have inspired and sustained Andrea over the years.”
“Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.”
As you hear these words, I’m reminded of God’s never-ending presence in our lives. Even when we may not feel Him, God remains by our side each step of the way.

Celtic singer Donna Taggart tugs at our heartstrings with her cover of Alan Jackson’s hit ‘Remember When.’ This touching song was an instant hit for Alan back in 2003. It was featured on his album, Greatest Hits Volume II, and Alan himself wrote it.
The lyrics take us on a journey from a couple’s first meeting all the way to growing older and watching their children welcome children of their own.
“Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music we danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up, remember when”
Today, Donna Taggart is putting her own spin on this country classic. Donna is a Celtic singer from Northern Ireland. She rose to with her 2011 debut album Celtic Lady Vol. 1. Then, in 2016, she posted a video of her singing 'Jealous Of The Angels.’ The song quickly went viral. In fact, it has been viewed over 150 million times across social media and the number continues to grow each year.
Now, she’s giving ‘Remember When’ a Celtic makeover and it’s one performance that you don’t want to miss.
“Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again, remember when”
As we grow older, it is not a time for sorrow but a time to rejoice in all of God’s blessings and the little blessings that will remain after we are gone.
Mark 10:14 “But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”
