Katharine and David met in 2006 when she was a 21-year-old contestant on American Idol, and he was acting as a mentor on the show. The two tied the knot 13 years later in June 2019. And most recently, Katharine and David welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in February 2021.

The Voices of Hope Children’s Choir inspire us all with this beautiful rendition of ‘Be A Light.’
Country star Thomas Rhett wrote ‘Be A Light’ back in 2019 alongside Josh Miller, Josh Thompson and Matt Dragstrem. But, after the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing fight against racial injustice, he felt led to release the inspiring song sooner than planned.

The Voices of Hope Children’s Choir was founded in 2015 to bring together children in the community of all different backgrounds. Today, it’s comprised of over 70 kids from Orange County who truly put their heart and soul into every performance.
Now, they are virtually gathering together for an inspiring performance of ‘Be A Light.’ Just listen as they belt out these wonderful words.

Check out this American Idol audition where one dad hears his daughter sing an original song for him for the first time, and he just can’t hold back the tears.
Ash Ruder is a talented, young woman who has had a somewhat complicated relationship with her father growing up.
“I would definitely say my dad is the source of my inspiration for music. I always really looked up to him, and so badly wanted to be a ‘daddy’s little girl.’ But my dad struggled with addiction since I was little,” Ash shares in her interview. “So, he wasn’t really there. I wish that things could have been different. By the time I got older, I was super angry with my dad. But the few times that my dad would show up, it meant the world to me. And I know he felt ashamed and felt guilt. Two years ago, he made the choice to become sober. And that’s why I’m doing this. There is a part of him that is there now that I never saw before.”
When Ash enters the audition room, Luke Bryan asks her if her dad even know that she wrote a song for him. She says he does not, so the judges tell her to go get him and bring him in to see her performance.
While she is singing, there is not a dry eye in the room. Ash’s father is especially getting choked up during the touching moment.
“Dad, congrats,” says Luke Bryan after Ash finishes singing. “Through all this you raised a very talented young lady.”
“You have found the only subject that does not go out of style. Love,” says Lionel Richie. “And your dad was holding on to every fiber he could to stand up straight and not fall over. I saw you struggling but, to be able to make mistakes, your daughter witnessed your mistakes, and she writes a song that says I forgive you for your mistakes. I think it was a great performance and you did well.”
“It was so beautiful to witness this almost healing that went on,” Katy Perry says after the audition. “And if you can continue to bring that same connectedness and feelings, it’s a yes for me.”
Ash got a yes from the other judges as well and she is off to Hollywood!

Such a talented family! In the video, the dad is singing the lyrics and playing the guitar. One of the sons is also playing the guitar, and one son is on the drums. The young daughter introduces the band and stands in the front to add more energy to the performance with her dancing.
“We're the Clark family,” reads the caption on their YouTube video. “Colt (the Dad) is a professional musician and Aubree (me, the Mom behind the camera) is a photographer. Together we homeschool our three children (even when we're not in the middle of a pandemic). We're keeping busy during our time at home by learning a new song every other day. We thought we'd record them and share as we go. Hopefully it brightens your day!”
The Colt family goes on to share about why Johnny Cash’s music has always been special to them. “When we were dating our first kiss was during the movie, ‘Walk the Line’, hence our oldest son, Cash’s name. We had picked out his name long before he was born so it was a weird coincidence that our Cash ended up being born on January 13th, the anniversary of the recording of Johnny Cash’s famous live album, At Folsom Prison. We hope you enjoy our version of a classic.”

Home Free’s Austin Brown joins forces with Steven Martinez for a pitch perfect rendition of ‘At Last’ by Etta James.
This classic song was originally written in 1941 for a musical, but it wasn’t until 1960 that it became the iconic tune it is today. Etta James recorded her own arrangement and the song went straight to number one.
Even decades later, ‘At Last’ continues to be regularly played and covered by other artists all over the world. And whenever you hear those famous lyrics, it truly transports you back to another time and place.

You may recognize Austin as a member of the a cappella group Home Free. We met this musical group when they competed in and won the fourth season of The Sing-Off on NBC in 2013. Other members include Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance and they’ve become viral sensations with their covers of hit songs such as ‘Ring Of Fire’ and ‘How Great Thou Art.’
2020 was an interesting year for people all across the globe. And while the pandemic forced Home Free to stop their tour, it allowed Austin time to discover himself as a solo artist.
He used these unprecedented times to create his own originals and cover songs and they are absolutely incredible.
