The Gospel Manifesto

Dr. Tommy and Rev. Elisabeth have been preaching the Gospel to millions in over 90 nations for over 35 years!

Recognizing Jesus

The people of Jesus’ day did not recognize Him for who He was, because He didn't look like they expected Him to look. He certainly did not have a God–look about Him, but was very common in appearance.

[There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. (Isaiah 53:2b NLT)]

And we apparently don’t recognize Him for who He is in today’s world. We apparently don't recognize that Jesus' presence in this world didn't end with the grave—or we wouldn't act like we act.

[When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:13–15 NKJV)]

The disciples identified Jesus by somebody else's experience. But to identify Jesus by somebody else's experience did not allow His power and grace to be released in their lives. And Jesus challenged them to have a first‐hand experience of who He was.

If you have been defining Jesus by who He appears to be to other people, Jesus asks you, “But who do you say that I am?” Your faith in Him depends on your understanding of who He is to you—not to somebody else, but to you.

Understanding who Jesus is to you changes everything.

Faith in God or Faith in Man

As Christians, we must not confuse having a dependence upon man to meet our needs with having faith in God.

Faith in God is not in our confidence that the grocery store shelves will have the food we need and that our bank account will clear the debit charge for those groceries.
Faith in God is not in our confidence that the supplements we take or the prescription medications we take will keep us healthy.
Faith in God is not in our confidence that this next batch of elected officials will fix the problems in our neighborhoods.
Faith in God is not in our confidence that work and family will provide the meaning to our lives.

I hope everything in your life is going your way. But even if man's way of doing things is working quite well for you, please, please don't confuse your success with having faith in God. Because your success at running your life the world's way has absolutely nothing to do with faith in God, and I would be doing you a great disservice if I led you to believe otherwise.

In fact, the better you are at navigating your way through life playing by the rules of the kingdom of this world, the less likely you will be to even notice the kingdom of God.
Maybe you are satisfied with what you've done without God. (As a young Christian I used to even brag about what I did without any help from God.)

But if you can ever taste what you could do with God, then you will look back on your life of independence as missed opportunity.

Salvation Prayer,
Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me and cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus, thank You that You died for me. I believe that You are risen from the dead and that You’re coming back again for me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God and a holy boldness to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m saved; I’m born again, I’m forgiven and I’m on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart.
Amen!

Private message me if you said this prayer!!

Extra Keys

if you are a born‐again believer, you have been given the keys to the kingdom of heaven. But if you don't know where that place is or what purpose it serves, those keys will just collect dust in an empty corner of your mind.

It's easy to get bogged down with church‐type terminology that seems to have no basis in reality, so think of the kingdom of heaven (or the kingdom of God) as a place in God—a position in a relationship. For example:

I am the husband in my marriage to Sherrel.
I am the father in my immediate‐family relationship with my children.
I am the older brother in my extended‐family relationship with my sisters.

In each of these relationships I occupy a place. I have my own space with my own responsibilities and my own privileges. The same is true in my relationship with God.

I am His son and His heir in my relationship with the Father (see Galatians 4:1–7).
I am His representative here on this earth in my relationship with Jesus (see John 14:12–14).
I am His temple in my relationship with the Holy Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 6:19–20).

Because of the laws in this nation, it is basically impossible for me to abandon my place in my marriage, in my immediate family, or in my extended family. I have both legal and moral obligations to my wife and my children, and to my extended family—to some extent.

The same will be true for God's kingdom—at the time Jesus takes over the rule of mankind. In that day it will be impossible for any person to a
