This scripture continues our study of The Sermon on the Mount. I chose The Message translation of the text because it makes so much sense as we try to figure out what Jesus is talking about here. He tells us to be perfect - what a hard goal! He tells us
to grow up - that hurts the ego. I believe Jesus wants us to realize that our discipleship is not a burden - it is the freedom to behave as God intends us to behave. It is the opportunity to share the love and forgiveness we have received with so many others.
What a blessing this truly becomes. Please join us as we continue this study today.
Remember the scene in Lord of the Rings where Gandalf lite the signal fires to spread the word of attack to neighboring Gondor? We have the same responsibility as Christians. We are like spiritual Ushers helping people escape a burning theater.
But what do we say if people remind us we ourselves are not perfect? Begin by being honest and start living right. "I just wanted to start taking it more seriously now."
Read Ezekiel 33:1 - 11 God called us to be watchmen.

If we thought about evangelism this way, 'I want to pour blessing on your head, I want to open Heaven's doors for you, I want you to have eternal life, I want you to know your sins are forgiven, I want you to know there's a God who loves you…
