Offence of the Cross

How did we get to the point where we don't take offense of the cross being out?
Chi Rho the first two "greek" letters in spelling of Christ. The cross has become fashionable item. The cross should represent the blood of Jesus who bled and died for you: Drove nails in hands and feet, pieced in the side, crown of thorns on His head. Imagine the cross being a firing squad, and you are innocent of sin or what was accused. Jesus wants us to know that in the cross there is life. A lot of us don't understand the purpose of the cross, that it gives us eternal life. The cross was given to us because it was prophesied that he was going to be on the cross before Jesus was born. When you are being crucified you are naked, when Jesus was crucified he was naked, tried to shame him. He took our shame when He was crucified. Transgressions are sins that you do that you don't know you are doing, when you didn't know any better. Iniquities are sins that you do deliberately. Jesus covered it all. He went through something for me and you. Cross of salvation. Paul preached the cross and Jesus Christ. The cross will set you free. Do you understand what Jesus went through for you?

A sermon presented by Pastor Ken Raymes from Metro Christian Center in Evansville, Indiana. This sermon was recorded on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015.

God the Sanitation Worker (Good Friday)

Pastor John will be examining the Easter story through the vocation of a Sanitation Worker. God is a God who cleans things up (and keeps them clean). Have you ever noticed how much he does that?

“They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. The written notice of the charge against him read: the king of the Jews.

Romans 4:13-25

13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

Acts 13:1-8

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. 4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. 5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister. 6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

4-2-15 TnT THURSDAYS (MESSAGE)׃ “Do Whatever He Says!“

The key to the power of God is simple, DO WHAT HE SAYS! This principle is illustrated in the story of the wedding in Cana of Galilee. Wonderful message that challenges Christians to dare to act like Jesus acted, live like Jesus lived, and do like Jesus says to do! In light of the events occurring in Indiana and other states today, it is obvious that Christians do not know how to live anything like Christ, and this is why the church sees so little of the power of God today as it has in days past.

Preachers and Paychecks - KLPTV.ORG

Let's start with Jesus, he quit his job as a carpenter and for the time of his ministry took support from a bunch of women. They gave him food, clothing and money when he needed it. They completely supported him. Yes the God of heaven who could turn stones into bread received continuous financial support from a group of women who traveled with him. They also cooked for the disciples and supplied their needs. Say what you want, but Jesus accepted money while he preached the Word across the country. God's Word translation spells it out clearly, "Joanna, whose husband Chusa was Herod's administrator; Susanna; and many other women. They provided financial support for Jesus and his disciples." [Luke 8:3 GW]

So what does God expect from the church today in regards to a pastor's financial support? What does God expect you to do? You won't believe what the Bible says!

True Repentance, The Key To The Door To Heaven

Two primary doctrines that cannot be bent, ignored, or twisted without destroying your eternal hope is REPENTANCE and GRACE. Christ warned repeatedly not to be deceived, and spelled out clearly how to be protected from such satanic lies and confusion. Today both these truths are buried under the lies of false preachers and teachers, and the church is full of corrupted members claiming religious freedom to live their lives without the burden of God's rules. We are in troubling times!

Christ's first series of messages were completely based on repentance. By repeatedly preaching "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" [Matt 4:17 (NKJV)] the Lord gathered followers. The full force of His call was to everyone to "change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins" (AMP). After gathering disciples he shifted to explaining the full weight of what this life of repentance meant. We call it the Sermon on the Mount, and Christ finished His truth with extreme warnings of great deception about this life of repentance.

Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. 14 But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it. [Matt 7:13-14 (AMP)]
