About Pastor Jeff Mattesich
Jeff Mattesich is the Acting Senior Pastor at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, CA. Jeff has served and been part of the Lake Avenue Church family since 1999. He most recently served Lake Avenue as Lead Ministry Pastor and his previous roles include Associate Pastor of Children and Students, High School Pastor, and Junior High Assistant. Jeff has also served as Junior High and College Director at Forest Home Christian Camps.
Over his time at Lake Avenue Church, Jeff’s love and heart for the people and mission of the church has grown. Whether it be the diverse congregation, commitment to children and students, the international staff and global ministry, or the priority of being a community church, Jeff believes Lake Avenue to be an incredibly rare and fruitful church for Jesus Christ. During his tenure he has had the privilege to manage and work alongside dozens of staff and interns who are now scattered throughout the nation and world as pastors and leaders of the Gospel.
Jeff currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Fuller Youth Institute. In addition to his board role, Jeff is a speaker and church coach for both the Sticky Faith and Growing Young (https://churchesgrowingyoung.com/) movements. Through this work he has enjoyed serving a variety of churches and denominations, including United Methodist, Lutheran, Mennonite, Presbyterian, Baptist, Christian Reformed, Seventh-Day Adventist, Non-Denominational, and Messianic Jewish congregations.
Jeff is also an Adjunct Professor at Azusa Pacific University in the Practical Theology Department. He enjoys interacting with undergraduate students who are considering a career in vocational ministry. He teaches classes related to youth and family ministry.
Jeff has enjoyed serving as a contributing author, guest lecturer, camp and conference speaker, strategic thinker, and creative contributor to several churches, camps, schools, and organizations over his years in ministry. He is currently a Family Camp Speaker at Campus by the Sea on Catalina Island each summer.
Jeff completed his B.A. in Biblical Studies at Azusa Pacific University and went on to receive a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Jeff is currently working toward a Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago.
By far, Jeff is most proud of being a husband and father. He has been married to Jenny since 2002, and is the proud father to Henry (11) and Russell (8). Jeff enjoys coaching basketball through PazNaz Sports, coaching baseball through Pasadena American Little League, and volunteering in his boys schools.
Jeff is an avid cook and UCLA football fan. He falls asleep during movies, loves adventurous vacations, enjoys grocery shopping, hosting friends in his home, and is always looking for a new restaurant to try out with family and friends.
