Holt International - Send a Child to School
A Place No Child Should Ever Be…
Children are growing in a garbage dump on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
They live in makeshift shelters with no running water or electricity, where the tarps and cardboard do nothing to keep out the dangerously cold sub-zero temperatures. Their parents work in the garbage dump, collecting recyclables for income. But the children spend their time here too — often working alongside their parents in this dangerous and highly toxic environment. Every year, children become disabled or even die when they fall off garbage trucks into the landfill.
But you can protect a child from these dangers. You can take a child out of the garbage dump each day and send them to school.
Just down the hill from the garbage dump is the Red Stone School. This informal, two-room school provides children with an education, a safe, warm place to spend their day and a free hot lunch — often their only meal that day.
Your gift of $150 will send a child to school for a full academic year, keeping them safe, warm and fed. You’ll ensure they have the school supplies, books and uniforms they need to succeed — as well as a warm, nutritious meal they can count on.
