A few more questions & answers... Why does the armor of God have no back covering? - If you look at the sixth chapter of Ephesians, you'll find the armor of God is all forward facing— nothing covers our rear side. The reason is that God intends for each of us to cover each other's backs—to think as one unit, one body. Who wears the armor of God? - The armor is first and foremost God's armor, worn by the eternal Son during the days of His incarnate, earthly ministry. Therefore, we may rightly refer to the armor as “the armor of Christ.” As the children of God—in union with the Son—we must wear the armor He wore when He made war against and conquered the evil one. How do we put on the full armor of God? - So the way that you put on the armor of God is by reading God's word. And praying it on. So afterSo the way that you put on the armor of God is by reading God's word. And praying it on. So after you read your passage for the day. Sit before God and remember these truths. Understand that his word When we pray on the Armor of God, we aren’t just preparing for battle — we’re declaring that God is with us and fights for us. Dick Van Dyke’s Birthday Serenade for Wife Comes with Story of Their First Meeting

Dick Van Dyke serenaded his wife on her birthday and also shared how the two met. The Hollywood legend delivered an incredibly adorable musical performance. Watch the short but oh so sweet clip to listen to Dick sing and tell about the first time he laid eyes on his wife.

There are very few people alive who are as beloved as Dick Van Dyke. One could argue that in recent memory, the only other person to reach that level was the late Betty White. Dick's work, including "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "Mary Poppins," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" as well as "Diagnosis Murder," has been loved and admired for decades. Not only that, but he appears to be a genuine, good-hearted person who loves and appreciates what he has and has been able to do with his life.

Despite being nearly 100 years old, he remains somewhat active, making public appearances occasionally. In a clip posted on YouTube, Dick's wife, Arelene, was celebrating her birthday with her husband right by her side. In fact, he led the room in singing "Happy Birthday," which he ended by planting a big kiss on her lips.

Following the musical performance, Dick took the microphone and shared a little bit about the couple's history, including the first time he laid eyes on the person he calls the most "beautiful woman" he's seen in his life.

"I never walked up to a strange woman in my life," he said. "I was backstage at the Emmys, I guess. SAG Awards. I was just waiting to go on. She walked by without even thinking. I jumped and said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.' And I found out she was a makeup lady, hired her, and now we've been married 13 years, and I couldn't be happier."

What an unbelievably sweet story!

Husband’s Sweet Serenade to His Wife on a Tough Day Will Melt Your Heart

A husband’s sweet serenade to his wife on a tough day will melt your heart. He played the young woman a beautiful song when he knew she had a rough day. Watch the short but oh so sweet video to see and listen to the husband play a song for his wife.

There are many ways to express love and show someone how much we care for and about them. The list of actions is long and seemingly endless. It goes from big, grand, flashy and expensive gestures to something as simple as holding the door for someone else.

It really does not matter how someone shows love for another person; what truly matters is that someone takes the time to actually do it. One may argue that the smallest gestures mean the most because they are often the most personal and show that the other person is paying attention and responding to the specific situation.

In a clip posted on social media, a husband responded to the situation when he noticed his wife had experienced a challenging day. He can tell her mood and that her day could have gone better.  However, instead of waiting for direction, he saw a need, took the initiative and acted, knowing exactly what would make her feel better.

So, wanting to cheer her up and brighten her day a little, he brought out his guitar and began strumming and singing along. A big smile came across her face within seconds, after the first couple of notes were played. He had already made her feel that much better, even before he started singing to her.

That was a beautiful and heartwarming act of love. The husband knew that his wife was not feeling great, and so he did what he could to make her feel a little better.

Genesis 2:24 “For this cause will a man go away from his father and his mother and be joined to his wife; and they will be one flesh.”

Falling Backwards...into Grace

I came across this familiar story from Scripture that reminds of me why you and I live in hope- God's gifts of faith and grace... The criminal hanging alongside Jesus is guilty, by his own admission, yet forgiven in an instant because of his faith in the mercy of Jesus... In another story, “Jesus Heals a Sick Woman (Luke 8),” a suffering woman is likewise freed from misery through her faith in Jesus...Faith is like oxygen, it seems to me, a life-enabling element that is as accessible as the air we breathe. If that idea and these stories that illustrate it don’t give us hope, what can?

All the Help We Can Get (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

When I pray, I usually pray to God the Father. Maybe not having an earthly father growing up makes having a divine one all the more imperative. It fills an empty space and feels natural and comforting. I pray to Jesus, the Son of God, but I seem to fall into the Father’s arms most easily. Jesus feels like an older Brother to me—a guide and role model. Almost like the character “Wally” from the television series Leave It to Beaver—a show that portrayed an idealized father-son relationship, which was especially powerful for a little boy who had no other example.

Releasing the Rush before Rest | Your Nightly Prayer

Nighttime has a way of magnifying our worries. As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, when the day’s noise dies down, our minds often rush ahead into the what-ifs of tomorrow—or rehash today’s troubles. This endless cycle of anxious thoughts can feel overwhelming. But God invites us to shift our focus away from fear and toward His promises. Worrying is easy, but it puts trust in things that will ultimately fail—our own strength, others’ abilities, or temporary circumstances. Instead, we are called to place our trust in the One who never fails. His peace is not something we can create on our own—it is a gift we receive when we lean into His presence. When we bring our burdens to Him, He promises safety and rest. Peace doesn’t mean problems vanish, but it does mean we can rest secure in the arms of our unchanging Father. As you prepare for bed tonight, may you release the rush of worry and trade it for His peace. Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 4:8 “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.” 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Heavenly Father, I confess how my heart and mind often run to worry, whether real or imagined troubles. Yet You call me to trust and peace. Shift my focus from fear and worry to Your unshakable love and promises. Teach me to lay down every burden at Your feet, knowing You alone keep me dwelling in safety. Fill me with the Spirit of Peace, the shalom the world can’t give, and quiet my mind as I focus on You. I trust and rest in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon What current issues in your life tempt you to worry? How has God faithfully carried you in the past—sometimes in ways you didn’t notice at first? What promises of God can you focus on tonight to redirect your heart from anxiety to trust? 🌙 Before bed tonight, take five minutes to write down your biggest worry, then pray Psalm 4:8 over it.

Lord, I'm Afraid to Hope Again | Your Nightly Prayer

Disappointment cuts deep. Whether it comes through broken trust, strained relationships, or unmet expectations, our natural response is often to pull back—to protect our hearts with control, silence, or distance. Tonight's prayer and devotional on Romans 15:13 offers us a better way: to place our trust not in perfection or outcomes, but in the God of hope. Parenting and relationships can test this truth daily. When trust is broken, fear often drives our reactions. But fear only multiplies anxiety, while faith opens the door to restoration. Just as God extends second chances to us without tallying our failures, we too can mirror His mercy by leaving room for redemption. Hope isn’t about ignoring hurt or skipping accountability. It’s about believing that God is still writing the story—even when things feel broken. He calls us to respond not out of fear but out of faith, letting His Spirit fill us with joy and peace so we can extend hope, even in hard places. Tonight’s Scripture: Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Lord, In my disappointment, help me not to reach for control but to respond with Your wisdom. My heart longs to parent and love out of faith, not fear. I surrender anger, frustration, and regret. Fill me with joy and peace as I trust You. May I see my child—and others in my life—not through the lens of failure, but through Your mercy. Let Your Spirit renew my hope tonight. Amen. 🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon What unspoken messages might your child—or someone close to you—be receiving from your disappointment? Reflect on your responses: have they been marked by control, withdrawal, silence, or grace? Are you trusting in another person’s behavior to reassure you, or in God’s ability to redeem and restore? ✨ Tonight, write down one disappointment you’ve been holding onto. Pray Romans 15:13 over it, surrendering it back to God. 💬 Share hope with someone who may be struggling—remind them that their story isn’t over. 📬 Subscribe here for more nightly encouragements to anchor your evenings in God’s promises.

A Prayer for God's Direction in Your Life Choices | Your Daily Prayer

Have you ever faced a decision that left you feeling uncertain about which way to go? In today's prayer and devotional, Scripture reminds us that our steps are directed by the Lord, even when we can’t fully see or understand His plan. Christine Perry shares a personal story of feeling the Lord’s nudge to step away from her current path without knowing what would come next. What began as confusion and hesitation became a testimony of God’s perfect provision. Where Christine only saw uncertainty, God had already prepared opportunities for work, housing, and growth that she never could have orchestrated on her own. The truth is, our perspective is limited—we see only what’s right in front of us. God, however, sees the full picture. Trusting Him with our decisions means surrendering our desire for total control and stepping forward in faith, even when the path feels unclear. His direction may not always align with our original plans, but His way is always better. Today's Bible Reading "A man's steps are of the Lord; How then can a man understand his own way?" – Proverbs 20:24 (NKJV) Key Takeaways God often asks us to take the first step before revealing the next. Our plans may fall through, but God’s purposes never fail. Trusting His direction requires faith beyond what we can see. God’s provision and timing are always perfect, even when the process feels uncertain. Let’s Pray Together Lord, thank You for directing my steps, even when I don’t understand the way forward. Help me to trust Your wisdom and surrender my plans to You. Thank You for being my Shepherd, Provider, and Guide. Teach me to walk in faith, believing that Your direction is always good. Children Share Heartfelt Lessons on Grief After Losing Beloved Dog

A group of young children shared heartfelt lessons on grief after losing their beloved dog. The youngsters went through a painful, devastating situation, but even at their young age, they have learned something many people, much older than them, still struggle to grasp. Watch the short but powerful clip to hear what these youngsters have learned after losing a cherished pet.

Many situations and circumstances in life deserve to be recognized and celebrated. We all want to experience as much joy and happiness as possible. Who in their right mind wouldn’t want that? You and I would think there’d be something incredibly wrong with someone who didn’t want as much joy and happiness in their life as possible.

However, while experiencing joy and happiness 24/7/365 is a nice goal and something to strive for, it is impossible. We all go through deep, dark and truly painful valleys. Death and loss are sadly very real, often causing much hurt and heartache. Not even youngsters are spared from going through these deep, dark valleys, as a clip posted on YouTube makes clear.

Three young children lost their beloved dog, a devastating blow, causing each of them immense pain and grief. But instead of getting upset and holding those feelings inside, they found and learned how to express and work through their grief.

The children organized a community-wide funeral for their pet, and several dogs and people attended the service. At that service, the children were able to express their feelings and the hurt they experienced following that loss.

But what the young man said about grief will completely blow you away. Hearing such wisdom from someone so young is impressive. As odd as it may sound, he mentioned that joy plays a role in coping with grief.

“Yes, because it allows you to realize that even after you’ve lost, there is still meaning to life,” he said.

Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
