A Prayer for Our Unanswered Prayers | Your Daily Prayer

Few things test our faith more deeply than unanswered prayer. As our daily prayer and devotional remind us, when we pray with earnest hearts but don’t see change, it’s easy to feel forgotten by God. Discouragement, frustration, or even anger can creep in. Yet Isaiah 65:24 assures us that God not only hears us—He is already at work before we finish asking. Lynette Kittle reminds us that when answers feel delayed, we’re invited to draw closer to God rather than pull away. Scripture encourages us to pause and ask searching questions: Are we harboring unconfessed sin? Are we engaged in habits or influences that grieve the Holy Spirit? Or, as in Daniel’s experience, could spiritual opposition be hindering the delivery of God’s answer? Unanswered prayers are not proof that God is distant. Sometimes they are a call to repentance, an invitation to deeper trust, or part of a battle being waged in unseen realms. Even when silence feels deafening, we can cling to His promise: “No good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless” (Psalm 84:11). Today's Bible Reading: "Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear." – Isaiah 65:24 (NIV) Key Takeaways God hears and responds—even before we pray (Isaiah 65:24). Sin and spiritual compromise can create barriers to prayer (1 John 1:9, Ephesians 4:30). The enemy can interfere, but perseverance in prayer brings breakthrough (Daniel 10:12–13). Unanswered prayers are opportunities to draw near, examine our hearts, and trust God’s timing. Let’s Pray Together Dear Father, thank You for hearing my prayers even when answers seem delayed. Help me examine my heart and remove anything that creates distance between us. Strengthen me to persevere in prayer, trusting that You are faithful and good, and that You withhold no good thing from Your children. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Welcoming a New Season with Worship | Your Nightly Prayer

Change is never easy. As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, the arrival of a new season sometimes brings joy and excitement—pumpkin patches, crisp air, and cozy nights by the fire. For others, it ushers in loss, nostalgia, or dread. Whether you’re welcoming autumn with open arms or wishing summer could stay forever, Psalm 100:4 reminds us that God is worthy of praise in every season. Unlike the shifting seasons of life, God remains constant—steadfast, loving, and faithful. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is “a time for everything,” and even when the seasons of our lives change unexpectedly, His purpose never wavers. Our challenge is to worship not just in the comfort of what we know but in the unknown of what’s next. If this season of life feels uncomfortable or uncertain, lift your eyes to the One who never changes. As you step into what’s new, let worship be your way of saying, “I trust You, Lord.” The seasons may shift, but His presence stays the same. Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 100:4 (NIV) “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Dear God, Embracing seasons of change can be overwhelming and scary. Some of us welcome this newness with excitement, while others cling to what’s familiar. If we’re struggling to welcome this season, help us to look to You in the process. Remind us that Your presence goes before us and that we have nothing to fear. Teach us to praise You in the middle of the transition, to trust that You are working in every detail, and to find peace in knowing You remain the same through every change. We love, praise, and thank You, Jesus. Amen.

Letting Go of What Didn't Happen | Your Nightly Prayer

Unmet expectations can cut deep—sometimes deeper than we realize. As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, maybe it was something small, like being forgotten on your birthday, or something life-altering, like a loved one who abandoned you or a dream that never came to pass. When what we hoped for doesn’t happen, the disappointment can quietly turn into bitterness, anger, or regret. Isaiah 43:18 reminds us that God calls us not to dwell on the past. He isn’t asking us to pretend that our pain doesn’t exist—He’s inviting us to release our grip on it so He can redeem it. Holding tightly to the past only keeps us trapped there. God’s plan is to free us from the weight of unmet expectations so that we can step into the future He’s preparing. When we dwell on what didn’t happen, we rob ourselves of the joy of what can happen. The enemy wants us stuck in a loop of replaying hurts and what-ifs, but God offers restoration and hope. He promises to redeem even the hardest stories, turning them into testimonies of His goodness. If your heart still aches from what didn’t happen—the relationship that failed, the job that fell through, the dream that didn’t materialize—hand it over to Him tonight. Trust that He hasn’t wasted a single moment of your story. What’s behind you doesn’t define you; what God is doing ahead of you does. Tonight’s Scripture: Isaiah 43:18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Heavenly Father, I bring You my disappointment and pain. You know the things that didn’t happen—the dreams that died, the expectations that went unmet, the people who let me down. I confess that I’ve held onto them, sometimes out of fear and sometimes out of hurt. Tonight, I release them into Your hands. Help me stop dwelling on the past and look forward to Your promises for the future. Restore what has been broken. Redeem what feels lost. Heal the places where bitterness has taken root, and replace it with peace, hope, and faith in Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon What is one event in your life that didn’t happen the way you hoped—and how might God be using it for your good today? How can you view unmet expectations through the lens of God’s forgiveness and redemption? What has God promised for your future that you can cling to instead of focusing on past disappointments?

A Prayer to Remember God's Protective Shield Around Us | Your Daily Prayer

Fear and anxiety can feel overwhelming, especially in seasons when uncertainty presses in. As our daily prayer and devotional remind us, the psalmist reminds us that God is not distant or indifferent—He is our shield, our refuge, and our covering. Amanda shares a personal story of repeating the phrase “God protects me like a shield” in a dark, fearful moment. That simple truth became a lifeline when fear threatened to take over. Psalm 91:4 gives us a powerful picture of God’s nearness—like a parent bird sheltering its young beneath protective wings, our Father covers us in His love and strength. Romans 8:31 affirms this reality: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” When we face anxiety, fear, or uncertainty, we can lean into the truth that God’s presence is bigger than the darkness. His protection extends over our families, our homes, our work, and our hearts. No matter what storms surround us, we are never unprotected. God’s shield is not fragile—it is steadfast, faithful, and unshakable. Today's Bible Reading: "He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler." – Psalm 91:4 (ESV) Key Takeaways God is our shield and refuge, covering us in His protection (Psalm 91:4). Fear may whisper that we are alone, but God’s Word declares that His presence surrounds us. Romans 8:31 reminds us that nothing can ultimately prevail against those who belong to Him. When anxiety rises, we can replace fearful thoughts with the truth of Scripture. Let’s Pray Together Dear Lord, thank You for covering me with Your protective shield. When fear threatens to overwhelm me, remind me that You are with me, that Your love and faithfulness are stronger than any darkness. Guard my family, my heart, and my mind. Replace my anxious thoughts with Your peace, and let my life bring glory to Your name. Amen. A Prayer for When Autumn Is Full of Grief | Your Daily Prayer

For many, autumn is a season of beauty—colorful leaves, crisp air, and cozy traditions. But as our daily prayer and devotional remind us, for others, the season can reopen deep wounds of grief. Losing a loved one during this time can make every falling leaf feel like a reminder of what has been lost. Grief is not something to hide or feel ashamed of—it is the natural expression of love for someone who is no longer here. Jesus’ words in the Beatitudes assure us that those who mourn are not abandoned in their pain. Instead, God promises His presence and comfort in the midst of sorrow. The Lord draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3) and faithfully carries us when grief feels unbearable. Over time, He not only comforts us but also equips us to comfort others in their mourning (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). In this way, even our deepest pain can become a vessel of compassion and encouragement. If autumn carries grief for you, know that you are not alone. God’s light still shines through the darkness, and His presence offers hope and healing—even in the hardest seasons. Today's Bible Verse: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4 (NIV) Key Takeaways Grief is a natural and holy expression of love—it is nothing to be ashamed of. God promises to comfort those who mourn (Matthew 5:4). The Lord draws close to the brokenhearted and heals our wounds (Psalm 147:3). Our own grief can equip us to extend comfort and empathy to others in pain. Let’s Pray Together Dear Jesus, autumn feels full of grief this year. Please help me to accept my sorrow as a reflection of love and not push it away. Surround me with Your comfort, fill my heart with Your hope, and help me to see glimpses of beauty even in my pain. Use my story to encourage others walking through grief, and remind me that You are always near. Amen.

He Holds What You've Let Go | Your Nightly Prayer

Letting go can feel like losing control—and sometimes, it feels like failure. As our nightly prayer and devotional remind us, whether you’re struggling with a strained relationship, a child’s choices, financial uncertainty, or health fears, surrender can seem terrifying. Yet Psalm 37:5 reminds us that when we let go, God doesn’t. Committing our way to the Lord means rolling the weight off our shoulders and placing it in His capable hands. The Hebrew root of the word “commit” actually paints this picture of rolling something heavy onto another. It’s not giving up—it’s giving over. God’s promise isn’t passive—He will act. He will take what you’ve surrendered and begin working in ways unseen. And even though surrender isn’t a one-time act—it’s a daily, sometimes hourly, decision—His patience and grace meet us in the process. If you’ve been clinging tightly to something today, remember this: His hands are stronger than yours, His love is deeper, and His timing is perfect. He doesn’t just catch what you release—He redeems it. Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 37:5 (NIV) “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this.” 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Heavenly Father, You see what I’ve been gripping so tightly. You know the burdens that weigh heavy on my heart. Tonight, I release them into Your hands—my fears, my loved ones, my future. I trust that Your hands are better than mine, that Your wisdom is greater, and that You are working even when I cannot see it. When I’m tempted to take control again, remind me of Your faithfulness. Thank You that letting go isn’t losing—it’s trusting. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon God’s Faithful Hands: Recall a time when you had to trust someone else with something precious to you. How much more peace can you find in placing that trust in God’s hands? A Promise to Stand On: What verse or promise from Scripture speaks most to your situation right now? Bill Engvall Shares Origins of His Famous ‘Here’s Your Sign’ Line

Bill Engvall has shared the origins of his famous “here’s your sign” line. The backstory to the popular comedian’s signature saying is just as hilarious as expected. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear how he came up with his “here’s your sign” refrain.

Making a living as a stand-up comedian is a tall order. Thousands of people dream of doing just that. However, having a dream and making that dream a reality are two entirely different things. Some comedians go years without making it big, never getting their big break. Others, for whatever reason, connect with audiences and become massive draws, making millions of dollars.

Whatever the case may be, many comedians have a signature line, catchphrase or joke they are known for. It helps set them apart from all the rest, because maybe even if people don’t know the comedian’s name, they might know their catchphrase. Bill Engvall is one of those comedians with one of the most recognizable catchphrases: “Here’s your sign.”

In a clip posted on YouTube, the longtime comedian shares how that phrase came about and how it has changed over the years. He also mentioned how the phrase perfectly describes many people, including people who would buy his merchandise in the early days of his career.

“Back in the old club days, when I was doing that, the bit used to say, ‘That I thought stupid people should be slapped,’” Bill says. “But, you know, my wife was looking out for me, and she said, ‘You know, you don’t look like the kind of guy who walks around slapping people.’”

Based on his wife’s critique, Bill came up with the idea of a sign individuals would wear that said, “I’m stupid.” He even started selling such signs. While selling those signs, Bill discovered that there was a lot of truth to what he was saying on stage.

“And I used to sell those little signs after the shows for a $1 apiece or two for $5,” he said. “And you would be amazed at how many people paid two for $5. Instead of, go figure. Here’s their sign.”

Job 8:21 “The time will come when your mouth will be full of laughing, and cries of joy will come from your lips.”

Learning to Love the Life You Have | Your Nightly Prayer

Contentment isn’t natural—it must be learned. As our evening prayer and devotional remind us, in our culture of striving and scrolling, it’s easy to believe happiness comes only with the “next best thing.” Social media highlights often amplify our discontent, drawing our focus to what we lack rather than what we have. That’s why Paul’s words in Philippians 4 are so powerful. He didn’t write them from a place of ease or abundance, but from prison. His chains remind us that contentment isn’t based on circumstances—it’s a matter of perspective. Comparison may whisper, “You’re behind, you’re forgotten, you’ll only be happy if life looks like theirs.” But God’s truth counters with something better: “Even if this season looks different from what you dreamed, I am still working. Even if you’re still waiting, your life is still sacred and good.” Contentment grows slowly, often through tears, especially when life involves loss or waiting. But joy isn’t only found in what we gain; it’s also discovered in how God carries us through what we’ve lost. Tonight, instead of longing for the next season, choose to notice the blessings of right now. There is goodness here. Tonight’s Scripture: Philippians 4:11b “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Lord, I confess it’s hard to love the life I have sometimes. It’s painful to see others thriving in areas where I still wait. I feel forgotten. Help me to love this life—the one I have today. Teach me to find beauty in the ordinary, purpose in the waiting, and joy even in the midst of loss. Quiet the comparisons in my heart and show me that this season is still sacred. Forgive me for focusing more on what’s missing than on the blessings in front of me. Tonight, I choose gratitude for the roof over my head, the people I love, and the breath in my lungs. Thank You for walking with me through every season. I trust You with today, tomorrow, and all that lies ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon What small blessings in your life have you overlooked? Pause and thank God for three of them today. In what areas has comparison stolen your joy? How can you invite God’s presence into those spaces? What distractions or habits stir discontentment in your life, and how might you release them to make more room for peace?

God’s Light in Your Loneliness | Your Nightly Prayer

We were created for connection. As tonight's prayer and devotional remind us, even in the perfection of Eden, God saw that it was not good for Adam to be alone. Loneliness is more than a feeling—it can wound us deeply, especially when accompanied by betrayal, abandonment, or rejection. In this evening prayer and devotional, Britt Mooney reminds us that when loneliness presses in, call on Him. Still your heart. Let His light pierce the darkness. With Christ, you are never truly alone. Scripture reassures us: God will never leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Jesus promised we would never be left as orphans (John 14:18). The enemy whispers, “No one sees you. No one cares.” Yet God’s truth says otherwise—He sees, He cares, and He is light even in our darkest moments. Throughout the Bible, faithful men and women—Job, Joseph, David, Elijah, even Jesus—experienced seasons of deep loneliness. Each time, God met them there with His presence, love, and power. And He will do the same for you. Tonight’s Scripture: Psalm 139:12 (NIV) “Even the darkness will not be dark to you… for darkness is as light to you.” 🔗 Read more on BibleStudyTools.com 🙏 Your Nightly Prayer Heavenly Father, You formed us for relationship in your loving image. A Prayer to Start the Workday with Focus and Joy | Your Daily Prayer

Work doesn’t always look or feel the way we imagined. Sometimes, the job we prayed for ends up feeling draining, and we struggle to find joy in our daily tasks. Yet, as our daily prayer and devotional on Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, our work is not about our comfort—it’s about trusting God with the assignment He’s given us. When we shift our focus from ourselves to God’s purpose, even the most ordinary or frustrating responsibilities can become opportunities to glorify Him. Our workplace becomes a mission field, where conversations, attitudes, and actions can shine Christ’s light into the lives of coworkers and clients. The key is to acknowledge God in all our ways—to invite Him into our tasks, our meetings, and even our frustrations. As we lean on Him instead of our own understanding, He gives us peace, perspective, and joy to serve faithfully each day. Today's Bible Reading: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." – Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV) Key Takeaways God places us in our workplaces for a greater purpose. Our jobs become a mission field when we focus on serving Him first. Choosing joy and gratitude can transform frustration into fruitful ministry. Trusting God with our workday aligns us with His greater plan. Let’s Pray Together Lord, thank You for my job and the opportunities it provides. Help me see my workplace as a mission field and my tasks as ways to glorify You. Guard me from complaining or discouragement, and instead fill me with Your peace, focus, and joy. Use me today to shine Your light to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer to Boast in the Lord | Your Daily Prayer

It’s natural to feel proud when we accomplish something—whether at work, school, or in our relationships. But Paul’s reminder to the church in Corinth, and in today's devotional and prayer, shifts our perspective: our successes are not our own, but the work of God through us. The Corinthians struggled with division and pride, boasting about their leaders and achievements. Paul called them back to the heart of the gospel—Christ alone. Our gifts, victories, and opportunities are not for our own glory but for God’s. When we boast in the Lord, we redirect praise where it belongs. This doesn’t mean ignoring our blessings, but rather using them as opportunities to magnify the grace, mercy, and love of God. True joy comes when we celebrate His work in us and through us. Your Daily Bible Reading: "Therefore, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.'” – 1 Corinthians 1:31 (NIV) Key Takeaways Everything good in us comes from God; our boasting should point to Him. Pride divides, but humility unites us as one body in Christ. Celebrating victories is good, but let’s shine the spotlight on God’s faithfulness. Boasting in the Lord helps us resist self-promotion and practice gratitude. Let’s Pray Together Heavenly Father, thank You for every blessing and gift You’ve given me. Forgive me when I let pride take the place of gratitude. Teach me to boast only in You, pointing others to Your goodness and mercy. May all I do bring glory and honor to Your name alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Related Resources & Articles How to Humble Yourself Before God – Crosswalk.com What It Really Means to Boast in the Lord – Christianity.com

Why does the armor of God have no back covering? - If you look at the sixth chapter of Ephesians, you'll find the armor of God is all forward facing— nothing covers our rear side.
