Great Grandfather With Dementia Cries Tears Of Joy Meeting Great Grandchild

Dementia, for many, can be a serious and confusing struggle, not only for those afflicted but also for the people in their lives. But even those struggling the most can find beauty and joy in a new life on Earth. You may tear up when you see this great grandfather with dementia meet his great-grandchild for the very first time. Dementia is a degenerative set of symptoms that affect the brain and can make day-to-day life progressively more difficult. Dementia is a common affliction, with about fifty-million cases worldwide, and is usually the long-term effect of physical diseases that damage our brains’ neurons and pathways. While researchers are still trying to determine the exact causes of dementia, studies show a life of routine exercise and a good diet are the best things a person can do to prevent the symptoms of dementia, and in most cases, can drastically extend the lifespan of a person experiencing dementia. In this video which was shared on Facebook, an elderly man that has been living with dementia was brought to tears when he got to see his newborn great-grandson for the first time. The experience was so emotional for him that he began to cry when he finally got to hold the baby boy in his arms. With a smile on his face, and tears in his eyes the man gazes down at the newborn in his arms and tells his family, “Pretty wonderful!” to which his family confirms “Yeah, he is huh?” While dementia can feel like an uphill battle for many, the moments of pure joy that inevitably shine through can give someone a reason to keep pushing forward. "But Jesus said, Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children." Matthew 19:14

Camera Captures Elderly Couple Slow Dancing In The Grocery Store

An elderly couple reminds us of the importance of savoring each moment of love, no matter where you are. As an anonymous shopper’s camera captures an elderly couple slow dancing In the grocery store, time seems to stand still. Grocery carts are forgotten while a romantic song lifts the mood on this video’s wintry day. It doesn’t take a special occasion, fancy outfits, or even a likely venue for this ordinarily-dressed duo to find each other carried away by love. Tucked in a corner of the store by the “fresh bakery” and a rack of wines, the couple gaze over their COVID-19-requisite facial masks into each other’s eyes...holding each other dearly. She rests her hand on his arm, and he takes her hand. Lost in the music, they twirl slowly together on an industrial-grade grocery aisle mat, oblivious to the bystander filming their touching moment. The song playing on the store overhead is "It's Not for Me to Say,” written in 1957 by Robert Allen and Al Stillman for the film, Lizzie. The now-legendary Johnny Mathis sang it in the movie when he was only in his 20s. Its soothing sound propelled his Columbia Records recording of “It’s Not for Me to Say” to #5 on the Billboard Top 100 singles chart. It’s also on his best-selling album, Johnny's Greatest Hits. By the looks of this shopping couple, Johnny’s transcendent crooning also recorded itself on the hearts of those who recall its lovely melody and lyrics: It's not for me to say, you love me It's not for me to say, you'll always care Oh, but here for the moment, I can hold you fast And press your lips to mine, and dream that love will last On a YouTube video upload of “It’s Not for Me to Say,” fan Dana Brinkmeier comments, “What a Great Vocal Gift that so very, very few have! Great memories from a consummate Artist! I am 70 and remember this great song being played on AM radio upon its first release when at age 10.” Commentor, ghasgfhag9 adds, “One of the most beautiful songs ever written sung by one of the (most) beautiful voices God ever created - Heaven…” And Carol Crutchley comments, “That special someone, wine, an open fire and Johnny Mathis playing. The perfect romantic evening.” Even for a mature twosome in the middle of a grocery store, bundled up in protective masks and winter gear, a Mathis tune is still making magic. Love is timeless like that, at any age. It finds a way into the doldrums of life, bringing reason to hold on to your beloved and dance. "Do everything in love." – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Luke Bryan Tears Up During Grace Kinstler's Audition Dedicated To Late Father

After years of hearing heart-wrenching stories, American Idol judge Luke Bryan tears up for the very first time during contestant Grace Kinstler's audition dedicated to her late father. In his words to Grace’s family after her performance, Luke confesses, “Listen. This is my fourth year of doing this, and it’s the first time someone has made me cry...while they were singing.” As Grace rounds out her closing song, Luke offers Grace this truth: “You know I get brought to tears by stories, and backgrounds of what people have been through and their struggles. But this is the first time in four years that just someone’s singing made me cry.” He adds, “Just understand that your dad is very proud of you right now.” Judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie agree with Luke’s valuation that Grace’s audition is right up there with Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson. Katy describes that she felt a “full-body wave of chills” twice; to which she adds, “that’s music.” As Grace’s pre-performance interview begins, Luke asks Grace who were some of the biggest supporters in her music journey. She immediately replies, “My biggest supporter was definitely my dad. He passed away last February very unexpectedly. So, that was very hard. I know that he would be here right now with me if he were still here. So, I’m gonna do this for him today…” Grace describes her dad as her “main cheerleader” growing up, as she reflects on his cherished collection of all her dance and music recital videos. She recalls, “he wanted to be around us all the time, ‘cause he just loved his family.” Grace would watch American Idol a lot with her mom and dad and says she always imagined he would be there if she were ever to go. Unfortunately, while away at college in Boston last February, she got a 7 a.m. phone call from her brother that no young woman wants to hear: “they just took Dad to the hospital, and he’s not breathing.” As she relays the memory of that day, she can’t help but cry. Then, gathering her thoughts, Grace touches the necklace she’s wearing that belonged to him. The pendant carries the astrological symbol of the lion Leo, the sun sign that both dad and daughter share. Picking up the necklace she says, “I have this with me, ‘cause then, he’s here, too.” Ryan Seacrest agrees, and remarks that even he feels like Grace’s dad is listening to them. Grace reveals that having her dad not there with her has taught her to “live every moment like it’s your last; so, take every chance, every opportunity.” Says Grace about how she plans to conquer audition anxiety: “I just keep thinking about how much he believed in me, and try to believe that much in myself.” In between her two audition songs, Katy encourages Grace to “sing it like the legend you want to be.” To which Grace replies, “You got it.” And get it, we do. Grace belts out “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “Natural Woman” with such force and soul that Lionel points heavenward, Katie is left with mouth agape, and Luke...breaks down in tears. "Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go…” Genesis 28:15

DJ Johnson Breaks Down Mid-Song With Emotional American Idol Audition

Grab some tissues, because when DJ Johnson breaks down mid-song in her emotional American Idol audition, you’ll feel your heartbreaking, too. If you’ve ever been a mom, loved a mom, or, God forbid, been abandoned by a mom...this video is a hand to hold as you let the tears flow. With an utterly riveting piano performance of her original song “Scars,” this 18-year-old from Longview, Texas gives American Idol judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan a look into her soul that has them all crying with her. As she centers herself for the interview preceding her song, DJ tells Lionel Richie, “I’m one of ten. I’m number 6. We’re all musically-inclined; we all get it from my dad. He was a worship leader, and me and him used to sing together. Up until last year.” At this point, the room goes silent as she struggles to continue. DJ collects herself and adds, “Our mom left. One day she just walked out.” You’ll see sweet snapshots of DJ as a little girl growing up, and she opens up about her emotional battle that has led to the scars she now sings about to help others through their pain. She tells American Idol, “Growing up I did want a relationship with my mom. I just remember wanting her to be there. And she wasn’t. The way she would say things...you’re not good enough...try to be somebody else.” DJ explains that she would sing, but her mom always made her feel she was worthless. She admits it was hard to not believe her criticisms, and DJ started hating music—and even herself. It took the shock of her mom leaving to break DJ’s fear, and refuel her desire to sing without condemnation. As she holds her Dad’s hand on a sunny bench outside the American Idol audition venue, DJ expresses, “My Dad has been there, and he helps me all the time.” In turn, proud papa offers, “I’m very proud of my daughter. I’m so thankful that she decided to do this.” Locking eyes with his daughter, Dad lets her know, “You’re my hero.” To dad and daughter, this audition is proof that DJ is overcoming her fears, and that she is indeed a strong talent. Strong enough to write from the heart, and share the story of her scars. Her voice is full, rich, and so very real. As she pulls you through the first verses of her original song, “Scars,” you can’t help but cry along with the judges and her. Handwritten lyrics to her haunting melody include: How could I have been so blind We all see through you and your lies How could a mother be okay, leaving scars on her children? How could a woman be okay, leaving her husband heartbroken? Then DJ is overcome. With extraordinary grace, the panel of judges drop all pretense...and honor DJ’s sobs with presence and tenderness. Lionel gets up almost immediately to offer her his “magic handkerchief.” Then the team has the compassionate idea to bring in dad for moral support. Now DJ can get through her audition. Dad’s hug is the turning point. Lionel reassures DJ, “nothin’ like Daddy’s hug.” And Katy adds knowingly, “I think she needs to finish that song.” With Dad standing by, DJ picks up her countenance, her fingers, and her voice...to tell the world: I know your pain, and I’m singing anyway. DJ welcomes you into the reality of pain in this world, as she does sing all the way through to her closing lines, “I”ve heard that time heals all wounds. Well, I’m losing patience and I’m confused. I’m tired of this pain that keeps bringing up your name.” She leaves us all with the question: “How could a mother be okay, leaving scars on her children?” After the final note, Lionel slowly shares kind wisdom with DJ , “We have a journey in life. We don’t choose it. Things happen. Your dad, thank God, is your rock. Something coming undone in the family is the most traumatic thing you’ll ever experience in your life. That message in that song is a hit record. Your delivery was completely honest, to the point of...you got us crying up here. Please look at it as just a step forward. It’s going to be okay. There are a lot of people watching you tonight that are going to relate exactly to your story.” The judges agree, they’re happy DJ has an outlet for her remarkable talent. Katie reminds DJ, “Some of the greatest artists have become artists because they have had the most pain in their life.” And then Katy has to catch her breath. She’s able to finally add, “It’s about if you can take that pain and turn it into a purpose.” So, do the judges vote “yes” for this teen with a heart for truth? Watch the video to find out. And remember...tissues, please. “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

'Shortest' Long Distance Relationship Shows The Power Of Love During COVID

The power of love has been on display at the US-Canada border, at least that’s what the ‘shortest’ longest distance relationship seems to suggest. Two lovers, once together, now separated, for a time at least. Karolyn Gagnier resides in Windsor, Canada, and her other half lives in Detroit, Michigan. His name is Scott Meyers. If not for the pandemic, the two lovebirds would be spending more time physically together. Instead, the days and months have had them social distancing with the partial border closure. Still, love keeps them drawing near, well that, and their close proximity. And how close are they exactly? “We could literally wave at one another,” Karolyn said. “[I’d] wave at her and she would see me,” Scott added. The couple had been dating for two years prior to the pandemic. Though lockdown didn’t lead to any sort of breakup, they needed to switch up how they interacted. The US-Canada border was only open to essential travel. Was their love essential? Likely so, but nonetheless, they found ways to interact across the nine miles of water separating them. Karolyn’s method of visiting Scott has involved driving to the airport in Toronto, Canada. The four-and-a-half-hour drive then put her on a plane traveling to Detroit, Michigan. The direction she drove from was essentially where the plane was taking her. Then she went to surprise him at his job at Home Depot. These plane trips are infrequent though, for financial reasons. Instead, most of their ‘visits’ are at the waterway separating them. Both hold a pair of binoculars while talking on the phone. “We had a trip planned last March, to which Scott was going to ask me a very important question...so I’m very much looking forward to Scott and I being able to finally travel, where he can ask me in a very romantic manner what my favorite color is.” Of course, she is jokingly alluding to an impending marriage proposal. May God bless them with peace and continued joy as they wait to reunite, and may God bless those who are at home with their loved ones with the same joy and peace. For those living alone without anyone, may God fill them with patience and peace as they wait to meet people of their own.

'Mattress Mack' Opens His Texas Furniture Stores For Residents Seeking Shelter From Cold

‘Mattress Mack’ opened his Texas furniture stores to provide refuge from the raging winter storm. In the midst of a winter storm that swept most of the nation, millions of individuals and families across the country were left displaced as a result of power outages, flooding from burst pipes, food shortages, and other unprecedented cold-related issues. In Texas, one man lent a helping hand to his community by opening the doors of his mattress and furniture store to Texas families who were left without a place to stay during this winter weather phenomenon. Houston Texas resident, Jim McIngvale, better known by his nickname, “Mattress Mack,” is the owner and operator of the mattress retail chain “Gallery Furniture.” After the winter storm hit Texas, leaving millions of residents without power, water, and food, Mattress Mack did not hesitate to open the doors of his Houston store to families without a proper place to spend the night. Mattress Mack is no stranger to taking in those in need, however. In 2017 Mattress Mack opened his doors to take in those in his area affected by the devastating destruction left by Hurricane Harvey. Now he’s back, allowing local residents the opportunity to come and stay overnight at his store, providing food, heat, bathrooms, furniture to sleep on, and above all: camaraderie to the members of his community. “We are more than happy to open this furniture store to serve the community because that’s why we exist,” Mattress Mack said in an interview. “It’s a tough situation and we try and make it a little easier for them by getting them on a good Tempurpedic mattress, making sure they have lots of warm food, and lots of camaraderie here--with 300 people here.” "In all things, I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35

16-Year-Old With No Arms Defies Odds To Become Ballet Dancer

Would you think that arms are just a detail in the world of Ballet? One 16-year-old with no arms is proving it with her amazing talent! Arms are just a ‘detail?’ Most people wouldn’t agree. Most would think arms are vital in the world of dance. But Vitoria Bueno, a 16-year-old with no arms defies the odds to become a ballet dancer! This beautiful, teenage girl is inspiring the world through the way she was born--with no arms. She is reminding us through God, all things are possible including the seemingly impossible. Vitoria was born in Brazil and fell in love with ballet at a young age. With the help of her parents and God above, she bravely joined the world of dance. As she grew in her skills, so did her confidence. When she dances, she seems to float across the stage. Her elegance is so mesmerizing, you almost forget she doesn;t have arms. Despite the fact she doesn’t look like the average dancer, her differences remind us, “We are more than our disabilities, so we have to chase our dreams,” she said. Vitoria not only is a ballet dancer, but she also is skilled in tap, jazz, and contemporary dance! In faith she followed her dreams and now she is inspiring anyone and everyone she encounters. She now has an audience that goes beyond the stage thanks to social media, with more than 17,000 followers on Instagram. Ballet not only provides her with an artistic outlet. It helps Vitoria gain the muscles and flexibility she needs in order to do everyday tasks for herself with no arms. She relies on her feet to not only get dressed and dance, but she uses her toes to apply makeup, open her bedroom curtains and so much more. This young woman proves just how amazing and unique God has created each of us and if we keep up the fight of having faith, we can reach our God-given dreams! “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” Matthew 19:26

Contestant With Tourette's Syndrome Earns Golden Ticket And A Surprise From Past Idol

A contestant with Tourette’s Syndrome earns a Golden Ticket, and gets a big surprise from a past American Idol star! When Anilee List and her family started noticing the development of some “unusual” physical and vocal tics at the age of seven, they were concerned with how this might affect Anilee’s life going forward. But with a valiant passion for musical performance and a supporting group of family and friends, Anilee was able to make the best of the hand she was dealt. At the age of ten, Anilee was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome, a disorder that impacts the nervous system and causes those affected to make sudden involuntary movements or sounds known as ‘tics.’ “I didn’t wanna be the ‘kid with something wrong with her,’” Anilee recalled. Anilee did not let this disorder prevent her from pursuing her passion, however, and continued to sing and perform on any stage she could find. Then one day in 2011 Anilee was watching season ten of the TV singing competition, ‘American Idol’ when she first saw contestant singer, James Durbin. After making it through the initial audition round, James emotionally explained to judges how he was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome (much like Anilee) when he was young, but how whenever he sang it would make all the tics seem to disappear. Having just been diagnosed that year, Anilee was suffering from a severe decline in her self-confidence, but after seeing James Durbin find success in the profession of her dreams, she once again felt like she could make her dream into a reality. At 20 years old, Anilee finally had her shot to do the same, and upon stepping into the ‘American Idol’ audition room, Anilee gave a chillingly good performance that earned her a standing ovation from all three judges, the chance to go to Hollywood to compete to be the next American Idol, and a personal video call from her inspiration himself, Mr. James Durbin. "Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."Joshua 1:9

Deaf Baby Hears Mommy Sing Lullaby For The Very First Time

When a deaf baby hears Mommy sing a lullaby for the very first time, it becomes intensely clear that some gifts in life are too great for words. Even too amazing for the “right” or “expected” reaction. Sometimes, we’re simply stunned...in awe of the miracle of life. In this baby’s case, the miracle of the sound of her mother’s love. You can feel the immeasurable depth of devotion as Mommy rocks her tiny, wide-eyed baby daughter gently in her embrace, singing: “Rest your head, close to my heart, never to part...baby of mine.” These beautiful words are from a Walt Disney classic song, “Baby Mine,” with heart-tugging lyrics such as: Let those eyes sparkle and shine Never a tear, Baby of mine If they knew sweet little you They'd end up loving you, too... Coming into the world at barely over 4 lbs, Olivia Ervin was diagnosed with Cytomegalovirus, a common viral infection that causes hearing loss. At not even 2 months old, the hearing loss was confirmed after she failed two hearing tests. Olivia’s mom, Edrea Kemp, and her partner, Ricky, who filmed the sweet video, explained that after Olivia's birth, the couple was referred by the audiologist to Early Intervention, a program supporting parents of children with any form of disability. Edrea shares that it was Ricky who “held it together” when they received the devastating news, and pushed them to pursue options. Seeing her daughter hear for the first time, Edrea says “was a really sweet moment, also a really sad moment because she was a little bit overwhelmed, but you could see the wheels turning in her head as she was trying to figure out ‘what is this new sensation.’” The couple shared that just a day after getting used to her new hearing aids, and the new stimulation, Olivia was “all smiles” hearing her mom’s voice. What a wonder that God made a way to give Olivia this connection! Through the talent and compassion of medical experts, Olivia and her family can enjoy the blessing of laughter, song, and life in ways we may have taken for granted...before they shared this inspiring moment with the world. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

Mother-Daughter 'Ave Maria' Duet On Piano And Violin

Viral violinist Karolina Protsenko and her mother perform a beautiful duet of ‘Ave Maria.’ ‘Ave Maria’ is a widely popular song from famed composer Franz Schubert. It was originally composed in 1825, but over the years the song has evolved into a well-known classical piece. “Ave Maria, gratia plena, Maria, gratia plena, Maria, gratia plena, Ave, Ave, Dominus” Today, Karolina Protsenko is putting her own spin on this iconic tune with help from her mother. You may recognize Karolina from one of her many viral violin performances. For years, she has shared her musical talents with the world through incredible covers such as ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love.’ Karolina is truly a talented teen and the Internet seems to agree. With over 10 million views across social media, Karolina is making a name for herself as an artist on the rise. Just listen as she performs ‘Ave Maria’ on violin with accompaniment from her mother on piano. “Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus, Et benedictus fructus ventris (tui), Ventris tui, Jesus. Ave Maria!” ‘Ave Maria’ is a timeless classic and it is not an easy song to perform. But, Karolina and her mother pull off this duet with ease. From the very first note, I knew that this was going to be a delightful performance and they did not disappoint. It is so amazing to watch this mother-daughter duo come together and share their mutual passion for music. I am sure that they are making memories that will last a lifetime. Who else agrees?

The Voice Winner Todd Tilghman Sings 'Take Me Home, Country Roads'

Check out this sweet video of Todd Tilghman, winner of The Voice, sing 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' with his adorable daughter. “I’ve got a special guest appearance on this one,” Todd says at the beginning of the video. “Gonna be a lot of fun. C’mon!” Then he starts to sing the popular song by John Denver. And what a smooth and peaceful sounding voice he has! “Almost heaven, West Virginia, blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads” His four-year-old daughter, Winnie, joins in the song during the chorus. She is so cute and her enthusiasm to sing with her daddy is so precious. What a team these two are! Todd says that his daughter absolutely loves John Denver, so he was very excited to collaborate with her to cover one of his most popular songs. What a sweet moment this daddy and daughter shared! One that I am sure they will cherish for years to come. “That is some serious cuteness with a dose of determination,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “This is absolutely precious!” writes another person online. “Great job, Winnie! Needed to smile today! Great job, Todd!” We hope that you enjoyed this sweet video of this daddy-daughter duet of John Denver’s 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' and it was able to bring a smile to your face! 1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
