Peace in Troubled Times

I would be remiss if I didn't state that we are living in what are indeed very strange times, that we are looking for peace in troubled times. And, as we watch the news and try to glean some semblance of understanding from our governments, we find that they are just as troubled as we are.

Yet, God is not troubled by the news. He is on the move - providing the hope, the answers that we are all desperately searching for. He is forever faithful and true, "an ever present help in trouble," (Psalm 46:1), the Saviour for all of our todays and tomorrows!

'These Days' By Glen Campbell Reveals The Nostalgia We're All Feeling Right Now

Enjoy a much-needed dose of nostalgia as you listen country legend Glen Campbell sing ‘These Days.’ As we walk though these uncertain times, the lyrics to this classic song remind us to keep moving forward. “I've been out walking I don't do that much talking these days These days These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do And all the times I had the chance to” Glen Campbell was a beloved country artist known all around the world for his musical talent. His songs, such as ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ and ‘Southern Nights’ earned him much praise. He enjoyed a long career full of success and admiration. Sadly, the world lost this great artist in 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Today, we’re looking back at one of classic performances as he sings ‘These Days.’ This Jackson Browne song was originally released in 1967 but has been covered by numerous artists over the years. Glen Campbell recorded the song for his 2008 album, Meet Glen Campbell. “These days I seem to think about How all the changes came about my way And I wonder if I'll see another highway I'll keep on moving I'm bound to be improving these days These days” There are many uncertainties in the world right now, but one thing remains unchanged. God is always right by our side and He is still in control. When we put our trust in Him, there is truly no obstacle to hard to face.

'For Good' Broadway Cast And Crew Of Wicked Honor Front Line Workers

The Broadway cast and crew of Wicked shared a touching video online of the song ‘For Good’ to honor the front line workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic. “In honor of every person on the front lines, our WICKED community came together in song and in thanks,” they wrote as the video’s caption. “You have truly changed us all. For Good.” The video starts off showing an aerial shot of Central Park. Then words appear on the screen for a moment: “To all those who have come into our lives to help when we need it most…We thank you.” Ginna Claire Mason, who plays Glinda in Wicked, starts off the song. “I've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn, and we are led To those who help us most to grow If we let them, and we help them in return Well, I don't know if I believe that's true But I know I'm who I am today because I knew you” As she sings, pictures of the Wicked cast pass across the screen, with all of them holding signs showing their gratitude to the workers on the front line. “From all of us here at Wicked: We admire, salute, and sincerely thank all of our doctors, nurses, E.R. staff, 1st responders, and essential workers,” reads Michael McCormick’s sign. “What would we do without you? Bless you all.” “You are heroes without capes,” Bill Ryall wrote on his sign. “Thank you.” The song continues as photos of first responders, doctors, nurses, bus drivers, cashiers, and other essential personnel are shown in the video. “Like a comet pulled from orbit as it passes a sun Like a stream that meets a boulder halfway through the wood Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But because I knew you, I have been changed for good” Lindsay Pearce, who plays Elphaba in Wicked, continues singing this beautiful song with Ginna. It is a beautiful tribute to frontline workers everywhere. Just like in the words of Wicked, these are the people who have truly changed the world, “for good.”

In his spare time, Ryan enjoys making music. He thought that this inspiring song was the perfect piece for these uncertain times. I know a lot of people are struggling and many turn to music for inspiration and even for spiritual guidance.” “I keep thinking of tomorrow And the thoughts that lie so deep Then I pray in talking whispers Cause I know that somewhere near Is the presence of an angel Come to hold me through my fear” This touching song was originally released by Liam Lawton in 2003. The powerful words tells the story of a guardian angel who helps guide the writer. Teach us to number our days

TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS. Moses prayed a powerful prayer that is so relevant in our day, "Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psa 90:12). How do we number our days and what does it mean by gaining a heart of wisdom? We live in troubled times but God showed us the example of the sons of Isaachar who had "understanding of the times and what Israel ought to do" (1 Chron 12:32). We too, need to emulate the fine example of these men who were part of David's army and whose strength lay in their brains not just in their brawn. We need to understand the times we are in and to know what to do with our lives. This is a heart of godly wisdom.

Men Of Voiceplay Sing A Cappella Rendition Of 'I Will Survive'

The five talented men of VoicePlay perform an a cappella rendition of ‘I Will Survive.’ During these uncertain times, the words of this classic song remind us all that these times will pass. “Oh no, not I, I will survive Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live And I've got all my love to give and I'll survive I will survive, hey, hey” Time after time, the men of VoicePlay stun us with this incredible talent. Over the years, they’ve given us amazing covers of popular songs such as ‘True Colors’ and ‘Don’t Stop Believin.’ On their Facebook page, the creative group explains their style. “Their performance ping-pongs between eras and styles, channeling the breadth of the musical landscape, and lacing it with inventive and often hilarious on-stage theatrics.” Today, Voiceplay is taking on the legendary tune ‘I Will Survive’ in the midst of social distancing. The group explained the careful process they used to create this incredible video. “In case you're curious, we did practice some social distancing with the creation of this video. It was filmed one person at a time over the course of an entire day. No camera operator or crew was present and we maintained a safe distance from each other at all times.” This group always manages to choose the perfect tune to showcase their vocal range and skill. And today’s performance is no exception as they belt out the lyrics that we all know by heart.

'Joy Is Not Cancelled' The Collingsworth Family

The Collingsworth Family remind us that God is all around us with ‘Joy Is Not Cancelled.’ This original song is exactly what we all need to hear during these uncertain times. “Joy is not cancelled It still remains Gods' goodness, kindness His grace isn't running low And He has not changed” For years, The Collingsworth Family has been using their God-given musical talent to help spread His message of love and forgiveness. Through their music ministry, thousands of people have heard the Lord’s praises and blessings. COVID-19 has forced many businesses to close and people to remain home. As we walk through these unprecedented times, it is so important to remember the blessings in our lives. That’s why Kim Collingsworth was inspired to write the song ‘Joy Is Not Cancelled.’ Just listen as she belts out these powerful words. “His power is still abundant His mercies are still new God's plans have not been cancelled He's fully in control And everything that matter still remains” We are so blessed to serve such a loving and gracious Father in Heaven. Even when we may not understand His plans, God is always there. Trust in Him and we know that better days will come. 1 Peter 1:8-9 “8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Candace Cameron Bure Shares The Worship Song Helping Her Through Pandemic

Joining Hoda Kotb on her Quoted By series, Candace Cameron Bure shares about the worship song that is helping her get through this pandemic. “Candace, I’m so happy that we’re doing your quotes during this time because, I gotta say, people are looking for hope and for light,” Hoda says to Candace during the interview. “And I think they wanna know what’s your North Star when it comes to quotes?” Candace goes on to talk about her family motto, which is “Excuses are for losers.” She says that this quote is not about being a winner, but it is more about character building. “It’s saying there’s no excuses, just try, go for it,” she says. “It’s like the best parenting advice I’ve ever given to my kids.” Then Candace goes on to share her next quote with Hoda. “This is from a song from Matt Maher who wrote it in 2013. It’s called ‘Lord, I Need You’ and it’s my everything,” Candace shares. “It encompasses, I mean Hoda, you know how important my Christian faith is, and it’s the foundation of who I am. And I could pick a Bible verse and there’s a billion that I could give you, but when I need to feel, and when I need a reminder, this song and the lyrics in it are everything.” The song that Candace talks about is a beautiful worship song that reminds us of how much we need the Lord. He is the one that guides our heart and holds us up when we feel like we are falling apart. He is where we find true rest and peace. Candace then goes on to talk about how important it has been for her to rely on her faith during this time. “We’re all worried, because we don’t know what’s gonna happen, we don’t. And I think the unknown is the scariest for all of us,” says Candace. “We don’t necessarily have job security, some people don’t know where their next meal is coming from, you know, schools are out, and parents are homeschooling for the first time…I mean there’s just so many unknown questions.” Amidst all the unknowns, Candace shares that she can always look to the Lord during this time of uncertainty and be rooted in her faith. “The Lord gives all of us not only grace but hope and promises and tells us not to worry,” Candace says. “He’s like, ‘I know every hair that’s numbered on your head. I provide for every bird in the air and every animal. Don’t you think that you’re more valuable than them?” What a beautiful thing to see Candace using her platform to share the love of Jesus with others and reminding the world that we all need the Lord.
