Louis Knight Brings Mom To Tears With Solo Performance On American Idol

Louis Knight brought his mother to tears while he was performing in Hollywood on American Idol. He sang the song ‘Hold Me While You Wait’ by Lewis Capaldi, and as soon as he started, his mother broke down. She was just so overwhelmed to hear her sweet boy singing up on that stage! “I'm waiting up, saving all my precious time Losing light, I'm missing my same old us Before we learned our truth too late Resigned to fate, fading away Hold me while you wait I wish that I was good enough If only I could wake you up My love, my love, my love, my love Won't you stay a while?” After he finished the song, Louis walked right offstage to give his mom a big hug. What a sweet moment between the two of them. But even with having his family there with him and doing a great job at his performance, this week has been pretty hard on Louis. “I don’t want to make an excuse, but I’m just really struggling,” Louis says. “It’s been really hard focusing.” The day of his performance happened to be the birthday of one of his best friends who lost their life to suicide about a year and a half ago. “It’s a whirlwind of emotions here at Hollywood week, and having all of this stuff coming back up that you think you’ve made peace with is really hard,” he shares. The song that Louis sang to the judges back at his audition in Washington, D.C. was actually a song that he wrote about the loss of that same friend. It has to be so hard dealing with that grief, especially in the midst of a competition, but we pray that Louis can find strength to make it through and continue to share his musical talents with the world.

Contestants Genavieve Linkowski And Travis Finlay Perform 'The Prayer' Duet

American Idol contestants Genavieve Linkowski and Travis Finlay hope that their rendition of ‘The Prayer’ is enough to make it to the solo rounds. This powerful song was originally written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis in 1999. It was written in both English and Italian for artists Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli to sing solo. But it was their incredible duet performance that truly propelled the song into the classic that it is today. “So let the children remember the sun Let them dance, let them soar For their lives have begun Let the children engender the rain As the river runs through fields Forever subsiding their pain Prayer” Today, another talented duo is hoping that their duet performance will be enough to impress the judges and continue on their journey to be the next American Idol. Genavieve Linkowski and Travis Finlay were both standout performers during their initial audition. And Genavieve is no stranger to American Idol. She actually made it all the way to Hollywood when she auditioned two years ago. But tragedy struck her family when her sister passed away and Genavieve didn’t know if she would ever sing again. Thankfully, she’s back on the stage and she’s got an incredible duet partner in Travis Finlay. And as these two belt out the beautiful words of ‘The Prayer’ it easily earned them a spot in the solo round. Now, only time will tell if one of these young artists has what it takes to be crowned the ultimate champion.

Dolly Parton Speaks Out After Death Of Kenny Rogers

After hearing about the death of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton speaks out in a video to share about how she is feeling. “Well, I couldn’t believe it this morning when I got up and turned on the TV, checking to see what the coronavirus was doing,” says Dolly Parton. “And they told me that my friend and singing partner, Kenny Rogers, has passed away.” Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton have been friends for decades and would collaborate on many songs together throughout the years. Dolly went on to talk about how Kenny is probably talking with God right now about all that is happening in the world at this present moment. “And I know that we all know, Kenny’s in a better place than we are today,” she says. “But I’m pretty sure, he’s going to be talking to God sometime today, if he ain’t already. And he’s going to ask him to spread some light on a bunch of this darkness going on here.” “I loved Kenny with all my heart,” Dolly continues. “My heart’s broken, and a big ‘ole chunk of it has gone with him today. And I think that I can speak for all his family, his friends, and fans when I say that I will always love you.” As she holds tight to a picture of her and Kenny, Dolly ends the video with a message to her dear friend. “God bless you, Kenny. Fly high, straight to the arms of God. And to the rest of you, keep the faith.” Other country stars took to social media after hearing that country and western music had lost such an icon. “Kenny, Go rest high on that mountain,” writes Reba McEntire. “Please tell mama and daddy hi for me. Thank you for your friendship and your love. We are going to miss you but we are so happy you’re singing with the Angels in heaven. Can’t wait to see you again one of these days. Rest in peace my friend.” “I can’t express on twitter the impact Kenny Rogers the artist and the man had on me. He was always very kind and fun to be around. Rest In Peace Gambler,” writes Blake Shelton. May Kenny Rogers rest in peace, and may God bring peace and comfort to his loved ones during this tough time.

'You Can't Make Old Friends' Kenny Rogers And Dolly Parton Duet

Legendary voices Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton sing ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends.’ There’s truly nothing better than hearing this iconic duo perform one of their best hits. “What will I do when you are gone? Who's gonna tell me the truth? Who's gonna finish the stories I start, The way you always do?” Kenny Rogers was one of the great voices in the entire music industry. For decades, he gave us chart-topping hits such as ‘The Gambler’ and ‘Lady.’ Sadly, in 2020, Kenny Rogers passed away at the age of 81. But there’s no doubt that he left a lasting impression on the music world that will never be forgotten. Now, we are looking back on some of his greatest performances and whenever you think of Kenny, Dolly Parton also comes to mind. For decades, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton entertained the masses with amazing duets such as ‘Islands In The Stream.’ And the true friendship between these musical talents was even sweeter. Today, we are listening to these two friends belt out the words to ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends.’ “You can't make old friends Can't make old friends It was me and you, since way back when But you can't make old friends” While Kenny’s life on Earth may be over, his legacy still lives on in the hearts of so many people all around the world. Anders Drerup's Unique Blind Audition Of 'Can't Help Falling In Love' On The Voice

Anders Drerup from Ottawa, Canada performs a unique rendition of Elvis Presley’s popular song ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ during his blind audition on The Voice. “Wise men say only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you Oh, shall I stay, would it be a sin Oh, if I can't help falling in love with you? Like a river flows, surely to the sea Darling, so it goes, some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life too Oh, for I can't help falling in love with you” During his performance, Anders adds some island flare to this classic love song. And it clearly impressed Nick Jonas, one of the judges on The Voice, because he turned his chair around for Anders shortly after he started singing. “Is it always reggae for you or do you mix it up?” Nick asks Anders at the end of his audition. “No sir, I just played in a ska reggae band back in the day,” shares Anders. “And I figured that would be a good place to start today.” Ska music is a genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s, and it was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. Ska combines elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Nick is clearly impressed with the singer’s ability to rearrange a classic song in a totally different way and to have fun with it in the process. “I think it was a phenomenal place to start,” Nick says. “I can hear in the higher register of your voice too that we’re going to have a lot of fun with the song selection and actually flipping things around.” Looks like Anders is going to have a great time on Team Nick, and hopefully he will go far with him as a coach on The Voice!

Powerhouse Vocalists Perform 'The Prayer' Duet On American Idol

American Idol hopefuls Cyniah Elise and Makayla Phillips team up for an unforgettable performance of ‘The Prayer.’ This powerful song was originally written by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis in 1999. It was written in both English and Italian for artists Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli to sing solo. But it was their incredible duet performance that truly propelled the song into the classic that it is today. These iconic words continue to hold a special place in hearts all around the world. “So let the children remember the sun Let them dance, let them soar For their lives have begun Let the children engender the rain As the river runs through fields Forever subsiding their pain Prayer” Today, another pair is hoping that their duet performance of ‘The Prayer’ is enough to impress the judges on American Idol. Cyniah Elise and Makayla Phillips are both powerhouse vocalists competing for their spot on American Idol. After making it through their solo performances, the two partnered up for the brand new genre challenge. Two contestants choose a song, practice and then perform the duet in front of the judges. Cyniah and Makayla wanted to leave it all on stage so they decided to sing ‘The Prayer.’ This is not an easy song to pull off, especially with such short notice. But these two contestants nailed every single note and it was enough to move on to the next round. Who else is looking forward to seeing these two perform again?

Unique Rendition Of 'Forever Young' On The Voice Impresses Coach Blake Shelton

19-year-old Kailey Abel and her ‘smoky’ rendition of ‘Forever Young’ impresses veteran coach Blake Shelton. This classic song was originally released in 1984 by the German band Alphaville. The song became a huge hit in the United States and led to numerous covers from nearly every genre. “Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?” Today, Kailey Abel is putting her own unique spin on ‘Forever Young’ as she competes for a spot on The Voice. As she belted out these familiar words, all of the judges took notice. Her signature ‘smoky’ voice was enough to make coach Blake Shelton press his button and turn around as she hit that beloved chorus. “Forever young I want to be forever young Do you really want to live forever? Forever, and ever” After the song ended, all of the coaches gave Kailey rave reviews. John Legend said, “When you growled, it was stunning. And we haven’t heard a sound like that, really, from anybody that we’ve seen in these blind auditions.” But no one was more excited than Blake when he realized that no other coach had turned his or her chairs and Kailey would automatically be on his team. He paid her the biggest compliment when he said, “You have an incredible gift. I will say this right now. I would bet the farm on you winning this competition.” Do you think Kailey has what it takes to take the entire competition?
