Kirk Cameron Discusses 'Growing Pains,' Fame and His Inspiring Journey to Faith

Actor, author, speaker and Christian Kirk Cameron discussed his time on Growing Pains, fame and his inspiring faith journey.

Many people probably know Kirk from movies like “Fireproof,” “Lifemark” or the “Left Behind” series. He has also written several books about faith, including some for children. However, he’s best known as Mike Seaver from Growing Pains, a beloved sitcom from the mid-80s to the early 90s.

Growing Pains completely changed Kirk’s life, turning him into a star at the young age of 14. In a clip posted on YouTube, Kirk explains his start in the entertainment industry and how he got the part on Growing Pains

“I started doing McDonald’s commercials, 409 cleaner commercials, Froot Loops, Fruit Roll-Ups, all this stuff,” Kirk said. “And then I auditioned for a part on a TV show called Growing Pains, starring Alan Thicke – the talk show host from Canada – and I got the part and the show took off.”

Today, Kirk is one of the most outspoken Christian celebrities. He commonly speaks out about his faith, Jesus Christ and the Bible. However, as he explains, that wasn’t always the case. Kirk was an atheist before coming to Christ. In the clip, Kirk describes how his journey to faith and accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior started because of a young woman he was interested in at the time.

“It wasn’t until I was about 17 years old that I met a really cute girl on the set of Growing Pains. And she was one of three identical triplets, and I was struggling with which one I wanted to ask out on a date because I couldn’t tell them apart,” he said. “They’re identical, so I was like, ‘Door No. 1, Door No. 2, Door No. 3.’”

Kirk adds he eventually asked the young woman out. But the address she gave him was not to her house but to a house of worship.

“And I asked this girl out, and she invited me to come to meet her family, sweet girl, sweet family, and the address she gave me on a Sunday morning, I found out, was a church.”

That Sunday morning’s message caused Kirk to reassess his atheism, raised questions in his mind and eventually led him to become a Christian.

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

'Boy Meets World' Actress Danielle Fishel on Her Cancer Fight and How She's Helping Others

In an interview, Danielle Fishel, one of the stars of “Boy Meets World,” discussed her fight with cancer and how she’s using her experience to help others protect themselves and find the cancer early.

If you grew up and watched television in the 1990s, you are likely more than familiar with “Boy Meets World.” It was a beloved sitcom about Cory Matthews, his family and his two best friends, Shawn and Topanga. It ran for seven seasons on ABC, providing everyone who tuned in with plenty of laughs. It was must-see television in the 90s.

In August 2024, Danielle, who played the odd but lovable Topanga on the show, revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, the actress revealed in an interview that her cancer was caught early. When her doctor found the cancer, Ductal Carcinoma in Situ, it was at Stage 0.

She says that right from the outset, her doctor was upbeat but also reminded her that there is no such thing as an easy or preferred type of cancer.

“My doctor told me, ‘You’re going to be okay. I just want you to know I’m so thankful that it’s Stage 0, but I do want you to know that there is no easy cancer,’” Danielle said.

She recalled the moment that she informed her husband, who lost both of his parents to cancer, about her diagnosis. After breaking the news to him, she said she “truly just saw the blood drain from his face.”

The clip posted on YouTube reveals that after undergoing two surgeries, Danielle is now cancer-free. Now, she is using her cancer diagnosis to tell others to go to their doctor and get their checkups. Danielle also added that after having gone through this, there are two areas in her life where she will now start being a little more selfish: her physical health and her mental health.

“As I’ve gotten older and I’ve become a mom and a wife, and I started thinking, ‘Is being selfless actually the virtue we think it is, or is it really harming us?’” she said. “And I think it’s really harming us, this idea of putting everybody before yourself. And when it comes to my health, when it comes to my mental health, those are just two areas that I’m not willing to sacrifice for anyone.”

3 John 1:2 “My loved one, it is my prayer that you may do well in all things, and be healthy in body, even as your soul does well.”

Heroic Dog Saves Elderly Owner’s Life by Tracking Down Help After He Fell

A heroic dog saved her elderly owner’s life by tracking down help after he fell and injured himself.

Dogs are some of the best beings you will encounter on this planet. They are loyal, dependable and loving. Also, most of the time, if you show one of those cute, furry and four-legged creatures any attention and love, you’ve got a friend for life. How can you not have a soft spot in your heart for canines?

A clip posted on YouTube details a situation in Washington state where, if not for the heroic and loving actions of one dog, her owner would have died. Instead, the dog was able to track down help and led a deputy to its owner, who had fallen and gotten injured.

The video states that Keith Johnson, 84, was letting his dog Gita outside one more morning when things took a turn for the worse. Keith states that when he let the canine out, he “got disoriented and dizzy.” He eventually stumbled to the ground, dislocating and cracking his hip.

Keith remained on the ground, unable to move, for several hours. However, Gita, the 13-year-old dog, always the trustworthy and dependable companion, stayed by Keith’s side the entire time. Eventually, Keith, understanding that he was in a terrible position, told Gita to find help.

Gita knew precisely what to do to get Keith some much-needed help.

The dog ran toward the highway and, while standing on the side of the road, caught the attention of a passing deputy. Eventually, Gita led the responding deputy straight to Keith. Gita’s actions had literally saved Keith’s life.

“I get choked up thinking about it,” Keith said. “She knew what she was doing. I tell her I love her every time I talk to her.”

Humans do not deserve dogs. God knew what He was doing when He put them on Earth.

Genesis 1:21 “And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”

Man’s Heartfelt Testimony of Overcoming Challenges Inspires and Uplifts

One man’s heartfelt testimony about overcoming challenges in his life will inspire and uplift you.

Sadly, this world is a broken and lost place. Many people are struggling to get by, worrying if they can make ends meet at the end of the month. Others are hurting either physically, emotionally or spiritually and often do so in silence. They may be your neighbor, co-worker or even family members.

Unfortunately, everyone will experience deep, dark valleys and storms in life. Trials and hardships do not discriminate; they come to everyone at one time or another. However, some people try to get through such situations without the help, comfort and love of Jesus Christ. Foolishly, they try to do it with their own power.

In a short clip posted on YouTube, one man describes a challenging period in his life. He could not find work anywhere, and it was during this time that he became homeless. Eventually, he turned to God during what he called “the lowest point” of his life and started attending church.

The man says that the pastor of that church told him to tell God his problems and to place all his trust in Him. Well, the man did just that, and what happened next is truly shocking and shows the power of God.

“I just talked to Him one night,” the man said. “That next day, everything started changing. I got my own place, work every day – all because of Him.”

Additionally, earlier in the clip, before giving his powerful and moving testimony, that man admits that he “was never really into church and stuff” in his earlier years. But he now reads the Bible and is learning and teaching himself about God and His love, mercy and grace for us sinners.

2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me.”

NBA Player Jaden Ivey’s Plea for People to Turn to Christ and Seek Forgiveness

NBA player Jaden Ivey pleaded for people to turn to Jesus Christ and to seek His forgiveness.

Professional athletes are admired and adored by people all over the world. Many are amazed at their athletic prowess and what they can do on the field and court. Most people can only dream of doing what those athletes can do effortlessly on a regular basis. They have been blessed with incredible physical skills and abilities, for sure.

Because of their position as athletes, those men and women have powerful platforms. What they do and say is heard by many and can, therefore, truly impact our world. Of course, this powerful position of influence can be used for both good and bad.

Jaden Ivey, a star point guard for the Detroit Pistons, has used his position of influence and platform to encourage people to turn to Jesus Christ. He added that Christ is coming back someday and told people to ask Him to forgive their sins.

His moving and powerful plea was captured and posted on YouTube.

“First, I just want to say that, that Jesus is the way, the truth, the life,” Jaden said. “And to, to any, any of, you know, the world that’s hearing this message: the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Jesus is coming back, and we all have to repent for our sins."

Later in the short video, he said, "We all have to put our faith in Jesus,” saying, “He will come back when you least expect it.”

Jaden added, “It’s time to wake up if you haven’t put your faith in Jesus Christ.”

This isn’t the only time the former Purdue University star has publicly demonstrated and shared his faith in Jesus Christ. In an Instagram post, Jaden posted a photo of himself being baptized with the caption “Nothing Without Jesus,” along with the Bible verses James 1:17 and 2 Corinthians 5:17.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold things are become new.”

John Fogerty Explains How Creedence Clearwater Revival Got Its Iconic Name

Musical legend John Fogerty explains how Creedence Clearwater Revival got its iconic name.

Every band has its origin story, whether a one-hit-wonder that was only around for a year or two or beloved classic groups like The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Those stories include everything from how the band members met to what led them to form a band and when and where they first played their first gig. These are just some of the questions surrounding bands that listeners typically want to know.

Another question that is usually of great interest to many is about a band’s name. How and why did they settle on this or that name? Many bands have come up with rather dull, mundane names that require no explanation. The Birds, The Monkees and The Eagles are just a few bands with bland names.

However, Creedence Clearwater Revival, often shortened to CCR, is one of the most unusual, memorable band names you’ll ever hear. So, how did the legendary band come up with its name? I must admit that’s something that has crossed my mind before. Well, in a video posted on YouTube, the band’s lead singer, John Fogerty, finally answers that question.

In the clip, John reveals that the band had previously been known as The Golliwogs, a name they used for three years but were not thrilled with.

“Now, we had been named The Golliwogs by Fantasy Records,” John said. “When the first single came out in 1964, surprising us that it actually said, “Little Girl,” was the name of the song, by The Golliwogs, who we didn’t know who that was. We thought it was a mistake.”

So, from October to December of 1967, they set out to come up with a new name, coming up with hundreds of suggestions, none of which they liked.

John states that while watching television on Christmas Eve in 1967, he saw back-to-back commercials that gave him some ideas and placed some images in his mind. Eventually, after a little more brainstorming, John came up with the name for the legendary band that many around the world know and love.

“I said to myself, ‘Creedence Clearwater Revival. Wow!’ John said in the clip. “That just sounded great to me! Still does!”

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Alice Cooper on Conquering Addiction and the Secret to His Long-lasting Marriage

Legendary rock musician Alice Cooper shared how he overcame alcoholism, cocaine and the secret to his long-lasting marriage.

Rock stars are known for their wild, crazy and outlandish lifestyles, living life to the extreme in every way imaginable. Wild parties, tons of drugs and copious amounts of alcohol are par for the course for rock musicians. Words like “stop,” “slow down” and “moderation” are not part of their vocabularies.

Alice Cooper knows this rock-and-roll lifestyle very well. For years, he lived it, traveling the road, playing one sold-out show after another to screaming, adoring crowds. Eventually, Alice says he developed a terrible drinking habit, becoming an alcoholic. He was slowly but surely killing himself.

To make matters even worse, Alice said he also got into drugs. The “No More Mr. Nice Guy” singer became a frequent and heavy user of cocaine. It was at some point during this period that his wife had had enough of his heavy alcohol and drug use. She returned home to Chicago, leaving him in L.A.

She wanted to see changes, and eventually, she gave him a task that would change his life forever.

“In order to get her back, she says, ‘Here’s part of it, we have to go to Christian counseling, and you have to set it up, not me. I want to see you set this up.’ So, I did,” Alice said in a clip on YouTube. “And we went into Christian counseling and got our marriage back together and started going to church.”

Alice added that “the most amazing thing” came from counseling and attending church. His desire and appetite for alcohol instantly vanished.

“Woke up the next morning, and there’s no craving,” he said. “For 37 years, there was no craving. It went; it was gone. The doctor said, ‘It was like you had cancer one day, and the next day you didn’t have cancer.’”

He added that in addition to his craving for alcohol disappearing, he also never experienced any withdrawals. Alice praises Jesus Christ for saving his life.

“To me, He basically said, ‘Be a rock star, but follow Me. I don’t care if you’re a rock star, just, you know, your life, your lifestyle is going to be your testimony.’”

As far as his marriage, Alice and Sheryl have been married for 43 years. The rock star says having “total trust in each other” has helped them sustain their relationship.

“You know, I always tell people, ‘Marry the person you’re in love with, don’t marry the person you love.’ There’s a big commitment there; it means you’re involved, you’re both connected,” he said. “My wife always says, ‘It’s not 50-50, it’s 100-100.’”

Heroic Woman Safely Lands Plane After Her Husband, The Pilot, Has Heart Attack

A heroic woman managed to safely land a plane after her husband, the pilot, suffered a heart attack during the flight.

Hero, heroism and heroic are words that are used far too often in society. Today, everyone can be a hero, and one does not have to do much to have that title bestowed upon them. Those words are erroneously used to describe more and more people all the time.

Run for office while promising people anything and everything as you use colorful language, and many deem you a hero. Or put a ball through a hoop, throw a football a certain number of yards or memorize and spout lines written by someone else, and you will also be someone worthy of that title. The definition of hero and heroism has become incredibly warped and skewed. Not many, if any, of those people described are heroic.

However, one woman, Yvonne Kinane-Wells, is a hero. She came through in a big way during an unbearably stressful and high-pressure, life-or-death situation. Yvonne landed a plane without incident after her husband, who was the pilot of their private plane, suffered a heart attack mid-flight. The incident happened as Yvonne and her husband were flying from Las Vegas to Monterey, California.

In a clip posted on YouTube, an air traffic control operator talks Yvonne through the landing procedure. Before the emergency, Yvonne had no piloting experience. Instead of Monterey, the air traffic controller directed Yvonne to the Bakersfield Airport.

In the interactions with air traffic control, Yvonne stayed cool, calm and collected despite the intense and scary circumstances. With air traffic control’s instructions, Yvonne somehow manages to land the plane at the airport without even so much of a scratch.

“Well, it’s, it’s to my knowledge, unprecedented,” said one airport official. “I’ve never seen it in my entire career.”

Yvonne is undoubtedly worthy of being called a hero. She did something most people would never dream of doing during an intense, life-or-death situation. One could even call what Yvonne did a miracle.

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and take heart, and have no fear of them: for it is the Lord your God who is going with you; he will not take away his help from you.”
